XI - rules

The situation at the BAU seems calm: Derek is less nervous and thanks to Emily's presence he is able to give his best in his work. Reid seems to have sorted it out with JJ, we haven't had any cases in a week which I find very strange.

In about a month we have to go to court for obvious reasons: after everything that happened with Doyle, the BAU, including Strauss, was summoned to the judge for questioning, after which he will judge the trial.
Last week instead there was the trial of Kevin Lynch. Only Hotch, Strauss and Garcia had been called to court, so they sentenced him to just two years in prison, for collaborating with Doyle, my attempted murder and hacking various devices during these years.

On my way to the office and taking the elevator, I receive an anonymous text message.

-I can see you everywhere- it says.

I don't worry too much, now we have a new case to solve so I'll let it go.

I get to my desk and on the one behind mine, JJ's, there's a huge vase of roses. I see JJ coming from behind, she tells me she's seen that vase before and thinks it's from Will.
Staring carefully between the thorns - there is a ticket. I try to catch it, obviously scratching all my fingers. The ticket is written on a computer so we can't figure out who it is from the handwriting of the anonymous.
I open it right away and show it to JJ who is more shocked than me.

The note was stained with colored water, perhaps too thick to look like water. it is red in colour. JJ takes the vase and breaks it by throwing it on the floor. Red roses scatter on the floor, and the "red color water" is actually nothing but blood, which smelled terrible.

she puts her hand over her mouth, shocked.

-as many roses as many people you had to kill in mission- the ticket says this. I turn it around to see if there's any signature but it's anonymous, like the message I received this morning.

I call Hotch and tell him to come over here immediately. JJ and I were the first to arrive early, but probably other people have had signals like these too.
As I hang up, an anonymous SMS arrives. he must have fantastic timing whoever he is.

-I see you found a gift from me, but don't worry, I have one for each of you.-

I explain to JJ what happened to me this morning and the message I just received. showing her the phone. While reading the messages, the anonymous sends me a picture where JJ and I are reading the messages, what is happening right now. JJ runs to the windows to see if anyone is there, then calls Garcia and asks her to start shutting down the office cameras.

Hotch and Prentiss run towards us, see the shattered vase, blood on the floor and the blood soaked note on my desk. why did they take so long? I'd come to think we'd been trapped by the unsub.

"Have you all received something strange today? Isn't it?" Hotch says as he picks a rose from the ground.
We nod. Prentiss says she found something strange in her cat Sergio's collar. The unsub must have broken into her house to stick a piece of paper up his collar. She brought the piece of paper with her.

this time it wasn't a message. but a black and white photo. It shows her and Hotch eating in Prentiss' kitchen.

I show them the messages and ask Hotch what kind of "gift" he got.

He tells me that this morning Jack, his son, woke him up and told him the house was flooded. He explains that there was a hole in the pipe but finds two photos inside the water pipe. One of Jack sleeping and one of Hotch sleeping, in two different rooms.

Hotch leaves us the photos he received for us to examine, we place his, Prentiss's and a rose of JJ on my desk, item by item, Hotch walks away to warn Rossi while I call Reid and Emily calls Morgan.

Hotch informs us that Rossi is on his way, Emily says Morgan is down here and calling the elevator, but Reid doesn't answer.

Morgan enters after a few seconds and runs towards us.

"oh no don't tell me that you too-" he says.

"what happened to you?" Hotch asks.

"Early this morning I went for a run. As soon as I get home, I find this written on the walls of my house." he takes out his phone and shows us the photos he took. "RULES" was written on the walls.

After a few minutes Garcia arrives and informs us that this anonymous guy has hacked his computer, has lost most of his accounts and doesn't know if he will be able to recover them. She sits down at my desk and opens her laptop to let us see her screen, but after a few seconds these words loop all over the screen. "THE BOY MIGHT BE IN DANGER".

The two televisions turn on and loop the same phrase. Garcia runs into his cave, we follow her and he sees all the computers, laptops and televisions turned on with that written on them.

Rossi arrives in time, explains that he has received some anonymous black and white photos where he has been portrayed with two of his three ex-wives in recent days. then looks at the flashing text on the TV. the only one who hasn't returned my texts and calls yet is Reid. We are next to each other. We just take a look at that concerned writing. So we get a notification for everyone, at the same time. I hear 7 different ringtones in less than a second.
