I wonder what Callie and the others are doing? I think to myself as I lay on my back staring at the sun, watching the clouds roll by, wondering what Mack's next move might be. I close my eyes.
"Oh, damn it!" I exclaim, sitting up, "forgot to tell Callie a happy birthday," I say again to no one, I knock on wood hoping I don't forget anything else.
"I forgot it was that little brat's birthday." someone says behind me, I turn my body to face them while standing up as quickly as possible. I look around, but no ones there. "Wow you and Callie should be siblings, she did the same thing." I back up a little, I hear whoever it is giggle.
"Really Eve, be reasonable they don't look anything a like," someone else says from a tree, I turn around, tripping over a. Vine. I fall flat on my back, knocking the wind out of me, I try to get back up but someone pushes me back down, "Jordan. Is it? I wanna talk." A guy says, I tilt my head to watch as the girl claimed to be Eve jumps off of a tree branch,
"damn it." I say in a hurried whisper.
"I thought you would be more exciting Jordan." Eve says skipping over, I roll my eyes. "Jordan, meet my best friend, Cameron," she says.
"When the hell did we become friends Eve?" Cameron asks.
"Wow looks like you guys have a lot to work out." I joke.
"Shut Up!" they both say in unison. I should have jumped already, why haven't I? I close my eyes and concentrate. So instead I just lay there on my back, helpless as they argue. come on Callie where the hell are you?
"Anyways, now that that's over, Jordan." Cameron says, I look at him.
"Jordan, wheres Callie? We have some unfinished business." Eve says, I shrug.
"How should I know?" I ask. "That kid is something else." I say again. Cameron chuckles, "What?" I ask.
"It's just funny," he says, I tilt my head.
"What's funny?" I ask again.
"Why do you care about her?"Cameron asks.
"Because we're good friends." I reply. I try to sit up but Cameron puts his foot on my shoulder forcing me back down, even though we are all about the same age he was still bigger than me.
"Jordan remember the last time I kicked your ass?" Cameron asks,
"Last time I remember I had an unfair advantage." I retort, "You being Mack's favorite doesn't exactly give me any good things you know." Cameron chuckles.
"Look Jordan we don't have time for this where's Callie, Mack wants to talk." Eve says.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because unlike you Mack has other favorites, your not one of them." Cameron says, it's a threat, clear as day.
"Cameron I know I'm the favorite, flattery will get you nowhere." I mock.
"Jordan, if Tava was here she would rip you to shreds." Eve replies
"Well she's not here is she?"
"This conversation is getting nowhere, let's just kill him, we can find Callie without him," Eve says, with a devilish look in her eye. This time instead of trying to sit straight up I try to roll out from under Cameron's foot, and it works.
"You two sure have a lot to work out, I hope you can do it when I'm not here." I say one last time, I stand completely up with the intention to jump away and go find Callie, something stops me, it's like a little voice in my brain, before I know it I feel a vine wrap around one of my feet and pull me back towards the ground, and then lifting me back up into the air like I'm no heavier than a piece of paper.
"Damn it! Do you two ever quit?"
