WITH THE THREAT NOW locked outside, the company began to settle into their lodgings for the night. The Siren instead, took to taking a walk around the house. Every room and hallway held so many fond memories.

Beorn had taken her in all those years ago; a stranger who he shared his food and resources with. He had let her stay with him for as long as she needed, which had ended up being more than a few years. She knew this house like the back of her hand.

Adella had found her old room. A smile came to her face as she noticed it hadn't changed since the day she left. From the small jewelry box she had forgotten in her haste, to the small teddy bear resting against the pillows on the bed. It had also seemed that Beorn had routinely kept up the room, keeping it free of dust.

"You know this place well." Thorin had found her, watching her from the doorway.

"Yes." She answered, though it was not a question. "I used to live here. But not as long as I would have liked."

Thorin stepped further into the the room, taking the time to look around. The only furniture decorating the room being a small dresser against the far wall and a decently sized bed between two windows. Adella stood at the beds side, holding onto a small, stuffed bear. "Was this room yours?" He asked, leaning his shoulder against one of the tall posts of the bed frame.

Adella turned to him, holding up the bear slightly. "I thought I'd lost this." Was her way of answering. "I could have sworn I put him in my bag when I left." She carefully set the bear back down where she found it. "I do that with my things, it would seem." She sighed.

"What do you mean?" Thorin's arms crossed over his chest.

The Siren sat down on the blanket covered bed. "I lost a necklace many years ago. It held a portrait of my mother inside. Before that, I lost a ring that belonged to my father."

The Dwarf silently slipped down to sit on the bed beside her. "What we're they like? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

Adella tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I never knew my parents. As you know, the surrounding kingdoms put a law into effect. There was a ban on Sirens having children. My parents, as you could guess, did not listen. Our King took my mother in, hiding her throughout her pregnancy. After I was born, she was found out and sentenced to death. I was hidden amongst the villagers."

"And your father?" Thorin pressed. Something inside him wanting to know more about the female. It was something he couldn't quite place.
