Felix looked around excitedly, waiting for Dawson to appear. As usual, the lunchroom was extremely crowded and loud. Felix bounced his leg as he waited; he searched through the crowds of kids, looking for the familiar black-haired boy. That's when he spotted him walking towards his empty table.
"Sorry I took a while." Dawson said, sitting across from Felix, "I was in line; I got you an apple."
Dawson placed the apple on the table in front of Felix, then brought out his own apple and started munching on it.
"Ok, so I think Ms. Ann knows something. Like that weird sound? Don't you think it sounded kinda, you know, alien-y?" Dawson asked, taking another bite out of his apple.
"I guess it did, but did you see her eyes? They were huge!" Felix replied, grabbing the apple, "And we have detention with her... God, we're going to be murdered by an alien."
"We're not going to be murdered; why would she kill us anyways?"
"I don't know; she's one of the big boss alien's goons? I mean, why else would she be here?" Felix shrugged.
Dawson didn't have a good answer why she would be here if it weren't to kill them, but he wasn't going to let Felix know.
"Everything is going to be fine; we're at school. She can't hurt us here; there are cameras everywhere." Dawson said, finally finding the right words.
"Yeah, you're right. Oh, do you still have the... bottle?" Felix asked, lowering his voice at the end.
"Yep," Dawson answered, patting his bag, "Right in here."
The bottle filled with Felix's latest glob was tucked safely in Dawson's backpack.
"So, why aren't you sitting with your friends?" Felix asked, taking a small bite of his apple.
"Eh, they're kinda assholes." Dawson shrugged, finishing his apple.
"Why were you friends with them in the first place, then?" Felix questioned.
"Cause I'm kinda an asshole," Dawson smirked.
"You shouldn't be bragging about that. It's not a good thing." Felix frowned.
"You're not a good thing," Dawson said, throwing his apple's core at Felix's forehead.
"Ow!" Felix rubbed his head.
"Ay! Sunset!"
Dawson looked up and turned his head as if his name was called; Felix also looked up to see what Dawson was looking at.
"Sunset, this is where you've been sitting?"
"Hey! Matty-Matt!" Dawson stood up and high-fived the boy who was talking.
Felix watched silently as Dawson and this new boy, Matt, talked. As Felix watched, he thought, "I think that's one of Dawson's friends... But didn't he just say they were bad? And why is he calling him Sunset?"
"Wait, who you sitting with?" The boy, Matt, asked, finally acknowledging Felix was even there.
Dawson turned around and said, "That's Felix."
"Oh." Matt looked Felix up and down, "Why are you sitting with him?"
"Because I want to. Is there something wrong with that?" Dawson asked, squinting his eyes.
"I mean, his whole vibe is giving I'm depressed, and I want people to know it! But whatever. Once you catch his 'weird' pop over to my place, I can give you some good Molly! It'll fix you right up, haha!" Matt laughed, turning away, "Bye, Sunset! Bye Felix, try not to slit your wrist too much! Hahaha!"
Felix's jaw dropped; he was utterly shocked to say anything. He couldn't believe someone would say that. He looked up at Dawson, who was still facing away from him. Even though he couldn't see his face, he could see how tightly his fist were balled. Dawson was angry. Very angry.
