Felix was left in his room after Officer Taylor left, and he watched TV to pass the time. As the second movie started playing, he heard voices approaching his room. He sighed as he thought it meant more tests.
Knock knock!
"Felix, can we come in?" Asked Maddy.
"Yes!" Felix responded, pausing the TV.
"Hey, hon," Maddy walked in, being followed by someone new, "So one more thing, then you'll be on your way!"
The new person, a lady in a navy blue suit, walked to his bed and introduced herself.
"Hello Felix, my name is Lacy Cross. I work for CPS, and I've heard some great things about you." Lacy smiled warmly.
"Child Protective Services...?" Felix mumbled.
"Mhm, I need some things from you. Oh, Ms. Maddy... do you mind...." Lacy gestured to Maddy to give them some space.
"Of course! Call me if you need anything!" She answered, turning to leave the room.
Felix glanced up at the new face, feeling the need to shuffle to the farther edge of the bed slightly. She seemed to have got the message and put more space between them.
"So Felix, we're still trying to track down your mother. But since you're getting discharged today, we need someone to sign you out. We have one contact we called to come, Octavia; she said she was your guardian. Is that true?" Lacy asked.
"... Well, I- I don't... have family other than... my mom... So she- uh... is the closest to a guardian I have...." Felix babbled.
"Mhm..." Lacy scribbled something in a small notebook she brought out, "Since you're 17... and your birthday is coming up in a couple of months, right? About to be 18... Yeah, I believe you can stay with her-"
"Really!?" Felix jolted forward but then sat back in pain.
"For a while, yes. Only until we find some other family for you to stay with." Lacy finished.
"O-ok, so I need to sign something to get out? Or can I leave? Does- does Octavia need to sign something? Is she here? Is Dawson with her?" Felix excitedly shot questions at the lady.
"She is here, yes." Lacy laughed, "So I think you'll get out soon!"
"Ok!" Felix boasted.
"Well, I think it's my time to get going. I'll come around for a welfare check in a few weeks. I'll see you later, Felix." Lacy waved, walking out the door.
"Bye bye!" Felix exclaimed happily.
