Dawson sat staring at the clock, which said there were 5 minutes left in the class. Wanting to leave early to walk to Felix's class, he packed up his bag and started to slink out of the room coolly. He opened the door at the front of the class and was greeted by a large figure outside of it. He looked up and saw the familiar face of a deformed goat. Silence rang in his ears as Vangrax unhinged its jaw. Breaking the quiet as the gory cracking of its mouth opening to an inconceivable size came. Its mouth was so wide, that Dawson could look down its throat with ease. He stared at it, mesmerized, he needed to get a better look. He leaned forward a bit, almost putting his head in the monster's mouth. All of a sudden, Vangrax snapped its mouth shut in one quick motion. Luckily, Dawson managed to back up in time, stumbling a bit.
"Dawson! You leave my class before the bell, fine, I don't care anymore. But now you stand up here acting a fool! If you want to leave and ruin your future, at least do it quietly!"
Dawson turned around fast, seeing his red-faced math teacher.
"But-" He turned forward again to see the empty doorway, where Vangrax once stood, or at least where he thought it did. Soon, the noise of snickers sounded through the room, Dawson then clicked his tongue and walked out of class.
Dawson leaned on the wall outside of Felix's class as the bell rang. As usual, everyone left the class quickly and Felix was last. Felix stood next to Dawson by the door, both of them being silent.
"Hey." Dawson breathed.
"Hey," Felix replied meekly.
Almost simultaneously, they both let out a sigh.
"Maybe..." Felix started, his eyes glancing at Dawson's, "Maybe... we shouldn't go to the next bell... or something."
"Mhm." Dawson agreed immediately.
Dawson then held out his hand for Felix to take, and Felix did so. Dawson led them outside to the large tree, where they had sat many times before.
"I think Vangrox is messing with my head," Dawson stated, looking forward.
"Vangrox...?" Felix mumbled the name, trying to remember, "Oh, the monster... I- I think so too- I mean, like messing with my head too."
"Well, thank God I'm not alone. I felt like- like I was going crazy. This is the first time I've seen something when I wasn't dreaming." Dawson shook his head, shocked.
"Yeah, it was scary... What did you see?" Felix asked.
"Man... When I was leaving class, Vangrox was there. It opened its mouth real big and- and for some reason... I put my head in it...?" Dawson questioned himself, "Then, it snapped its mouth shut, I guess trying to bite my head off. Thankfully I backed up in time."
"God, that's horrible." Felix shook his head.
"Yeah, but what did you see?"
"Well, it's not as bad as yours but I was like, zoning out in class, right? And then I look up and everyone is staring at me. But not like normal... like... like... like they were being controlled or something. Their eyes were huge, I mean, they looked terrifying. Their pupils were also ginormous, it almost took up the entire eyeball, and they were black as night." Felix sputtered.
"Mh," Dawson replied in agreement.
Felix continued, "I was, of course, confused and nervous, so I asked 'what'. But then this normal-looking boy answered me! When I looked back everything was the way it was before. It was like... I was going crazy."
"Man, this is complete bull. I hate this place, I wish lighting would hit and burn it down." Dawson huffed.
Felix's eyes widened as a light bulb turned on in his head.
"Burn it down...?" Felix repeated.
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?" Dawson questioned, looking at Felix.
Seeing the knowing smile on his face finally made the cogs start turning in Dawson's brain.
"Burn it down." A sadistic smile spread across Dawson's face.
