Waking up to Everly's gorgeous face reminded me that this is in fact not a dream and it is incredibly real. I'm really in bed with her, stroking back her chocolate brown hair and admiring her natural beauty.I could barely sleep. I didn't want to. I wanted to drink in every moment of feeling Everly in my arms. Our bare skin against one another, her slow and steady breaths. When she'd stir from her sleep for a second and reach over to grab me tighter. I live for these moments.
Between the early hours I found myself dozing off here and there until the sunlight shone straight through the hotel window. Everly grumbles and covers her eyes with her hand, I doubt she's had many good nights of sleep over the past couple of weeks.
And by the looks of her crusty eyes, this one did her all the favours.
"Good morning, sweetheart," I kiss her temple.
I watch as she stretches out in my hold and I press my lips to her neck and then her collarbones. She hums in delight and wraps her arms around me, nuzzling her head into mine. "Good morning," she says, her voice still half asleep. "Glad to know I'm not stuck in some crazy dream."
"Likewise," I mumble into her hair.
We stay like this for a few moments, entwined into one another. Nothing could part us because we don't want to, we have to be this close for our sanity. God knows what today is going to have in store for us but it's a matter of time before we find out.
