One month later and the trial is officially over. It didn't take long for the jury to come to a decision when the police found evidence on the King's computer and at Philip's residence. There was no way they would be getting out of this, especially when past maids and chefs told the truth about what they did to Everly.
She remained strong throughout. Sometimes we'd come home and she would cry in my arms. I realised how mentally draining this all was. Having to face them again in court and have their lawyer ask Everly questions that had her flustered and confused.
But no matter what, the jury saw right through the King's bullshit.
And now it's over. The King, Queen and Philip have all been sentenced to time in prison.
The entire monarchy has pretty much collapsed and in a way, I believe it needed to happen for because of their backwards and outdated traditions. All of this for the expense of Everly's life. Never again will she have her freedom kept from her.
This shows how much strength and courage Everly has to speak about her life, what she endured and watching them get put away for what they did. It's the justice she needs for closure, knowing she's never going to go back to the castle.
Shortly after the trial, Everly decided she wants to give up her princess title even though it might take a while for things to get back to normal. She wants nothing to do with the royal family and I completely understand.
