Today is my first official day starting university. Although I won't be going into an actual lecture theatre on a campus, this feels just as special. It's the first day of a new education leading to new beginnings.
I've never wanted to know more about society and the realm of social care more. If I could even one person on my journey then that will be my life complete. Anyone who went through something like I did, I want to help to get them out and offer them a better life in the hands of someone who is trustworthy.
I sit at the kitchen table with laptop in hand, waiting for the first seminar and meeting the professors that will be teaching us over the next three years. There are loads of other students who are also ready to start their new course and I am ecstatic to be doing something I have dreamt of.
A forum for people on our course is created and people are chatting away about their modules and which placements they will want to do in the future. I reply to some comments, hoping to get recognised in the chat.
When a notification pops up on my screen that someone named Audrey has replied to my message I instantly smile. Then after a few more messages she pops up on my private chat instead.
Audrey: Hey, this is all a little daunting but I'm super excited. What about you?
Everly: Hey! Me too but I know it's going to be great. A shame we can't actually go into lectures but I guess we all picked the OpenUniversity for a reason
