The week slowly ended, my pain still lingered every so often. We had the board meeting this weekend but I couldn't go because I was going back home for the funeral. That Friday I was packing for the weekend, a few of my teammates were over.
"We better win this." Kenny stated. I nodded my head, "You guys gotta win this for me." I smiled. I finished packing my bag and threw it down on the floor, every went into there own conversation. "Hey Vivian can I talk to you in hall?" Guy suddenly asked.
Luis looked over at me, "Uh yeah." I got up and went out in the hall with him, "So Connie asked me if I wanted to go on a date her." He nervously admitted. I smiled, "That's awesome!" He smiled, "Are you sure you won't be mad about me leaving you in the dust?" I nodded my head.
"Of course I won't be mad, but she better treat you right." I hugged him. We talked for a minute about stuff then went back inside, I sat down on my bed again and Luis raised an eyebrow at me. I mouthed to him, "I'll tell you later." He nodded his head.
Over the past week, me and him decided if we were ever going to get back together we need to start off as friends, but that didn't stop him from being protective. I was leaving later tonight, so the whole team decided to go out to dinner.
Luis sat on my right and Orion on my left. Everyone talked about, besides me. "I'm taking you to the airport right?" Coach asked. "Yeah please." I didn't order anything to eat because I wasn't in the mood.
"Do you want a fry?" Luis asked me, a bright smile plastered. I looked over at him, "Uh no, thanks though." I smiled, his face dropped and he went back to eating. I took a sip of my water, and sat there awkwardly.
Once everyone finished eating Luis asked to come along with me and Orion, "Sure." Orion stated as we walked out of the restaurant. "I call shotgun!" I yelled running to the car. "No fair." Luis complained.
I buckled my seat and we began driving to the airport, it was about a solid half an hour ride so they talked about hockey and I occasionally chimed in with short answers. I felt a hand squeeze my shoulder, it was Luis.
I turned around and he mouthed, "Are you okay?" His eyes were soft. I shrugged my shoulder, "You know you guys can talk right, I'm basically Vivian's therapist." Orion stated. "He's not wrong." I smiled.
"Are you okay Vivian?" Luis asked. "The best a person going to her dads funeral can be." I replied. "It'll be alright kid, I believe in you." Orion smiled. We finally made it to the airport and I grabbed my bag.
I hugged Orion, "Call me when you land alright?" I nodded my head, "Thank you, you'll be able to pick me up on Monday right?" "Actually someone else will." I looked at him confused then he stepped away.
Luis pulled me into a hug, "Call me when you land, I'll tell you how the meeting goes." I hugged him back. "I'm sorry I couldn't come with you." He apologized. "It's fine, it's probably for the better." He nodded his head.
"Bye Vivian." He pulled away from the huh. "Bye Luis." I then put my bag on and walked inside the airport. Security went by quick and I was one of the only people at my gate. I bought a drink and some snacks for the ride, I then started reading a book I packed.
20 minutes later we started boarding, I found my seat and luckily I was sitting alone. I put my snacks down in the middle seat, and then put my bag underneath my chair. We took off and I looked out the window.
I shut my eyes and fell asleep for the remainder of the flight. I got off the plane and went out the pick up lot where Emerson's familiar car sat. I opened the door, "Hey." I smiled. "Oh my god you look so different!" She pulled me into a slight hug.
