JUNG HOSEOK POV
I sat staring at my phone. Well, more like one of the contacts in my phone. Several days ago I had taken Em's number from Jungkook's phone and hadn't gotten the courage to go and message her. Jungkook had still been a little down since the photoshoot and Em refusing to let him pay for the phone repair.
I was sitting on the couch in the practice room at HYBE when I heard the door open and shut. I looked up to see Namjoon approaching me. Without a word he sat next to me and looked at the phone in my hand. I looked back at it as well.
"Hobi-ah, what are you doing?" He asked not mentioning the name he could see the number saved as. It was saved as BREATH OF FRESH AIR. "Who is that?"
I took a nervous breath before answering him. "This is Em's number. I got it from Kook's phone." I said, not looking at him in the eye. I heard a gasp and then a deep chuckle come from him. My cheeks felt a little warm and I knew I was blushing.
"Okay, so then why are you just staring at it?" Namjoon asked, waving his hand at the phone screen.
"Because I don't know if I should text her or not. She seemed very short with Kook and I thought maybe I could talk to her and convince her to be our friend." I said, my voice getting quieter at the end of the sentence.
"Hobi-ah, there is only so much we can do. If you have her number, your have the decision to make. I won't tell you what to do. I won't even tell you not to text her. Just realize that no matter how much we want to be her friend, that there are some divides that people are not comfortable crossing," Namjoon wisely said as he put his hand on my shoulder.
I sighed, aware of the truth of his words. It is not just us risking things, it would also be Em. Someone who is not famous could accidently become famous and not in a good way. I love ARMY and trust true ARMYs, but it is the media that is scary. The stories they make up, especially Dispatch, a magazine that hired people that are known to stalk after famous people and harass anyone they meet.
After much thought, I put the phone back in my pocket and looked at Namjoon. "I will wait and see how things go. Maybe she will reach out to Kook, since she has his number. In a few days more, maybe, I will text her."
EM POV
Two weeks before the end of the school year we broke the news to our students. I had been with these students since they had started at the school, and they expected me to teach them again for their last year. They were devastated as Hye Won and I told them this was my last few weeks with them.
"But Em Teacher, what will we do without you?" One of the students asked from the back. I knew it was Ha Won Woo. He had been very shy during his first class with me. We spent months building his confidence in speaking out loud and now we have full conversations in English every day. He had improved the most and I know he relied on me a lot.
"Won Woo, you will do great. I know you will continue to improve and practice with Hye Won Teacher. If time allows, I will come back to visit." I assured them all. They were all sniffing back tears, but that got a watery cheer from them. I felt myself holding back tears as well. It was always said to say goodbye. And this time, it would be a permanent goodbye.
The next day I got a call during my lunch break. It was Kevin from ESL Linguistics.
"Ms. Jones, we have arranged for your apartment. Would you like to bring any furniture or would you like us to furnish it?" He asked me over the phone. I took out my little diary and looked at the list of things to do.
"I don't have much, to be honest. Most of my furniture is provided by the school," I said into the phone. I was thinking about how much money I had left in savings after my trip home and was starting to panic about budgeting.
