I came back home earlier that day but it still didn't stop my father from being angry about it. No matter what I did, whether I got there early, late, or got there at all, he must've hated me to such a degree that my presence was too much for him to bear.

"Go to your room," he spat at me as usual.

"But Fenrir-"

"I'll let the damn dog outside. Get out of my sight," he cut me off.

"Dad-"

"Why can't you listen to me for once?!" He roared at me. "Is it really that much to ask for?"

"You never listen to me!" I cried. "All you do is tell me off and treat me like a toy. I'm not one of your hammers you can throw away once you get bored! I'm your daughter whether you like it or not!"

"My daughter would have a little bit of respect for me whereas you speak your mind without thinking twice."

"It's not my fault, respect goes both ways! How am I supposed to be nice about everything while you are mean all the time?" I tried reasoning with him but it only made everything so much worse.

"You know what? You're a spoiled brat. That's what you are! A stupid child that only asks for everything to be handed to you but never gives anything in return!" he clenched his fists in anger.

"Haven't I given enough?" I threw my hands in the air. "I've been trying my best ever since mom died and all you did was drink and take out your frustration on me. It's not my fault she's gone!"

"You haven't tried hard enough," he turned around and made his way to the kitchen.

"I'm not done talking to you."

"Watch your tongue, you might lose it one day," he growled without looking at me.

"Why do you hate me so much?" I asked.

"You are a disgrace. People call you a witch. I don't want them to think we're lunatics. That I am a lunatic. Maybe if you behaved like a normal person instead of sneaking out to the woods, they wouldn't call you names. You asked for it and it's entirely your fault."

"How does liking nature make someone a witch?' I asked in disbelief. "It takes a lot more than that."

"How would you know what it takes?" He spun around, grabbed my wrist, and pushed me. I collided with the wall and then hurt my ribs on the edge of a table before I landed on the floor. I screamed in pain and saw Fenrir jump on the man in my defense.

"No!" I shouted shocked before he managed to hurt him.

My dad kicked him hard enough to get him off of himself and got up. He grabbed me by the neck and pinned me to the same wall I'd fallen on earlier.

"I despise you. You're no one. Either you change the way you act or you're getting kicked out. There's no middle ground. Choose wisely, you have nowhere else to go," he said and let me go.

Tears threatened to fight their way out of my eyes and I blinked them back. I ran upstairs and locked myself in my room with Fenrir.

"I can't live like this," I told him and he pressed himself against my chest. His warmth calmed me down even though my ribs hurt a lot.

Suddenly, the scenery changed to a room that looked familiar. I walked up to a window and looked outside. I watched white clouds lazily pass through the sky. The towers of the School for Good reflected the sunlight.

"You're exactly where you belong," Lady Lesso's words rang in my mind. Then, everything went pitch black.

I woke up startled and struggled to remind myself where I was for a few minutes. I rubbed my eyes and noticed Fenrir on the floor by the bed. I lit a candle and checked the time. 3:30. Great.
