Kabanata 5

Denyse

I pursed my lips the moment Keios led me inside his condo. The neatness of the gray-dominant unit suddenly made me feel ashamed to step on the polished marble floor.

Pinasadahan ko ng tingin ang kabuuan. Everything was aesthetic in a manly way.

"Do you. . . have a housekeeper?" hindi ko napigilang magtanong.

Keios shook his head while carrying my luggage inside. "Nah. I've only been staying here for a couple weeks but I do my own laundry and clean the place myself."

Napaawang ang aking bibig. "Ikaw lang ang naglilinis at naglalaba rito?"

Keios nodded. "Why? You don't do your own laundry nor clean your own room?"

. . weird lang."

Siya naman ang napakunot ng noo. "Weird? Why?"

"I mean, mayaman kayo."

"And?"

Right. He didn't get my point.

He scoffed. Mayamaya ay umiling-iling. "I'm not some spoiled brat, baby, nor a lazy guy." He folded his toned arms in front of his chest. Napatitig pa ako sa biceps niya at naisip na siguro'y masarao iyong tattoo-an.

I pursed my lips and looked away.

"Sa bahay, we let the maids do some of the laundries but I never let anyone clean my room. I hate it when I can't find some of my stuff right where I put them."

I stared at his kitchen. "You do the cooking, too?"

"Nah. I usually eat out. Minsan bumibili lang ako ng lutong ulam."

Nagsalubong muli ang aking mga kilay. "Lutong ulam?" I smirked. "You're lying."

"Why? Masarap naman. It's too inexpensive for its taste. Kahit naman Daddy ko bumibili ng murang pagkain like pandesal and balut—"

His face saddened as if he remembered something.

"Anyway, you can use the spare room. Dalawa ang kwarto but most of my stuff are in the bigger room." Lumapit siya sa kwartong malapit sa kusina. "Here. There's a built-in wardrobe where you can put your things."

Napalunok ako. "So. .

He shrugged. "I thought you'll bring Shaina with you. Ipapagamit ko sana kwarto ko sa'yo." He yawned. "My bed is bigger than the one in the spare room. Just let me know if you wanna sleep in my room instead. Amoy Keios ka nga lang pagbangon."

Inirapan ko siya. "Tantanan mo ko, Keios." I sighed and kept silent for a moment. . . umuwi sa inyo."

Umaliwalas ang kanyang mukha. "Really?"

I swallowed before I nodded my head.
