The Eons Book Two-Chapter 8:

We were all up at about 3 in the morning to pack the van and Ash’s mercedes. Vlad, Ari and I were riding in the van. We would follow the mercedes to Las Vegas. It would take a total of 21 hours, we were leaving at 4 o’clock and we would get there around 1 in the morning. Vlad called driver’s seat and Ari called shot gun. Great. I get to spend an entire day on the road in between Ari and Vlad. I groped around in my room for the light switch. I pulled my bags out from under my bed and threw some clothes inside, not really paying attention to what was going in my bag. Bane walked into my room and asked for something.
“Falcon I don’t think you need a bikini in Vegas,” she said. I turned around and threw it out, somewhere deep into my closet.
“Sorry. I’m not a morning person,” I said. She found whatever she was looking for and left, leaving my door open. I smelled French toast. I finished packing quickly and hurried downstairs. There were individual plates of French toast sitting on the island with glasses of orange juice and milk beside them. I took a plate and some OJ to the table and sat down. Bane and Calypso joined me eventually. The smell of food does tend to wake teenagers up in the morning. After we had finished eating, took our dishes to the sink, and washed them, we brought our bags and weapon containers down stairs and put them with Ash’s. He’d probably been up all night fine tuning the plan. We had to go get dressed. I walked into my closet and pulled out my green skinny jeans. I pulled on a white tank top and the matching lace white shirt. I really didn’t feel like putting on tennis shoes so I just grabbed white toms and ran down stairs barefoot. Bane was wearing her black yoga pants and a grey sweatshirt with Linkin Park printed across the front in black letters. I felt overdressed but we had two different definitions of comfortable. Calypso was planning to ride 21 hours in her grey sweatpants and a blue Avengers t-shirt. We packed our bags into the cars and Calypso and Bane got situated. It was much closer to 4 when the guys joined us in the frigid Canadian weather.
After Vlad got into the car, Ari and I climbed in. This was going to be a long drive. Vlad turned on The Suicide Brigade. Ari looked at me and rolled his eyes. It was crazy how he could make me smile, even when I should probably be really pissed at him. Around 10 o’clock I fell asleep, my head resting on Ari’s shoulder. I woke up at border patrol. We were crossing the border at Aldergrove into Lynden, Washington. From Lynden, we would travel nineteen hours to Las Vegas.
The border police looked into the windows and opened the back of the van. I was sure they would find the weapons. We all started breathing again when we passed through and got back in the van. We passed the first 16 hours by playing truth or dare. We stopped at a bathroom about 3 hours from Vegas and stretched out our legs. We finally arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at 1:45 in the morning. Waseem took the van because he was staying with a friend of his and dropped the rest of us off at the hotel. Ash checked us in because he is the only legal adult. They said they were having registry complications so we could get our rooms later. Everyone looked to Ash for leadership.
“We’re in Vegas so we might as well have a little fun right?” I think Ari nearly had a heart attack.
“Ash are you feeling alright?” He asked. We all laughed and then I almost had a heart attack when Ash offered to buy us alcohol. I felt like this was probably a once in a lifetime thing.
“I’ll take a vodka.” Ash kind of eyed me strangely but we walked up to the bar. After we had all had a few drinks I felt a little tipsy. We drank until about 3. Then the gambling started. After an hour of that I was almost drunk. Ari offered to take me up to our hotel rooms if he could find the manager and recheck us in. The manager said that the only rooms left were 4 rooms with single queen sized beds. Ari said we would take them. I can’t recall exactly what I was thinking at that moment. I don’t think Ari was drunk. I was only getting drunk when we left the bar. We entered a room together and he didn’t hand me a key card. I figured he would just give it to Bane or Calypso or somebody. He closed the door and went back downstairs. I undressed and put on some shorts and left my tank top on. I don’t know how long I just laid there, but after a few minutes the door opened again and Ari came in. This was about to get interesting. I sat up in bed and Ari closed the door. He turned on the lights and walked over to the bed. He sat down facing me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I came to see you.”
“It’s 4:30 in the morning. Ari what are you actually doing here?”
“ What do you want me to be doing here?” I just smile and roll my eyes. “I am serious, what do you want me to be doing here?”
“I don’t know. And you’re the one that walked into my room, remember?”
“Do you remember that night we danced around in my room?”
“Yeah. Ari what does this even have to do with anything?”
“Bear with me here. That song, the one we danced to, it’s what I wanted to tell you. We are slow dancing in a burning room. There is a very real possibility that we are going to die tomorrow. I love you y’know. You love me. What are we going to do about it?”
“I know what you are trying to say. I’m not sure I’ve had enough to drink to decide something like that spur of the moment.” I felt his hands grabbing my arms, and I felt our natural attraction, so maybe that’s why I kissed him. Like I said, his kiss is literally intoxication. Seeing as I was already intoxicated, kissing him may have pushed me over the edge. We probably made out for a good five minutes. He took off his shirt and his fingers starting playing with the bottom of my tank top. After he had that off he ran his hands down my stomach and slid his fingers into the waistline of my shorts, not that there was much fabric between the waistline and the hemline. He picked me up off the bed and pushed me against a wall. I grabbed the belt loop of his jeans and started pulling them down when the cleaning lady opened the door and screamed.
“I am so sorry. So sorry.” She said with a thick hispanic accent. Ari had a wicked grin on his face that dared me to keep doing what I was doing. The cleaning lady fled the room, not even bothering to get her cart. I turned my attention back to Ari. I unbuttoned his pants and he pulled them off. The next thing I remember is waking up, the feel of skin on skin, and Ari’s breath on my neck. I had the worst hangover. Waseem was not going to be happy. I took a shower and redressed. Walking out the door and down the hall I found Ash.
“Please tell me you didn’t get drunk last night,” I said, he looked like normal Ash so I could hope right?
“No. I only had three beers.Oh and about 9 Long Island Ice Tea’s. It seems odd they would sell something nonalcoholic at a bar.”
“Well Ash, that’s because there is a lot of alcohol in Long Island Ice Tea. You seriously had nine?”
“Well that explains a lot of things. No one tell Waseem.”
“Okay, whatever, have you seen Bane this morning, I have something I need to tell her?”
“I haven’t seen her since she left the bar last night. Have you seen Ari he agreed to meet me out here this morning?”
“No,” I said a little too quickly. The elevator doors opened to reveal Waseem with breakfast from a cafe down the street. This day was beginning to get interesting.
