The Eons Book Two-Chapter 12:
"This Will be an Everlasting Love" started playing as Bane and Ash walked down the aisle arm in arm. Calypso and Alec went next. Ari took my arm and my face heated up. By the time we were on our way downstairs to the grand ball room my face was 7 shades of red. I went to get Calypso and myself some punch from the large glass bowl by the wet bar. Returning, I sat between her and Alec.
"So will you two be getting married next?" I asked jokingly.
"Yeah," Alec said, completely serious.
"Wait, you're not saying that you proposed without telling me?" I eyed Calypso oddly.
"No, don't worry Falcon. I would coming rushing in your room and drag you away from your books and tell you. We've just been thinking about it more seriously since Bane has decided to get married. So what's the deal with you and Ari?"
"I don't know. I've been super confused by everything lately. It's like one minute we are everything to each other and the next I don't exist to him. I have to say I miss him alot. I definitely am looking for a second chance sometime, just not until we are both ready." We all stood as the newest royal couple walked in for their first dance. Both of them were so graceful and regal. I guess I'd never seen Bane so confident or in charge, and, contrary to popular opinion, Ash didn't look at all like an egotistical maniac.
"We'd like to invite the wedding party to join the royal couple on the dance floor," Micah said from the DJ's microphone. Alec took Calypso's hand and led her to the marbled floor. Waseem's outstretched hand was met with a half-hearted smile as I stood up. He was the one who taught me to waltz because my father could not dance. I had loved traditional dancing since I had witnessed my mother and Waseem dance a flawless minuet. As the gentle opening measure of the Russian minuet came drifting through the speakers my memories were thrown for a lovely re-tour of my life. I didn't want to cry here at Bane's wedding but thoughts of my parents brought to surface painful scars that hadn't quite healed in 21 years.
"Can I cut in?" I heard Ari's deep baritone crash through my thoughts. I looked up at him as Waseem's calloused, wrinkled hands passed mine into the smooth strong hands of Ari Aswari. He danced much better than I remember. I couldn't tear my eyes from his face. "You've been crying Bella," he said pulling his thumb to under my eyelid gently.
"It seemed like an occasion for happy tears," I lied laying my head on his shoulder.
"Those are not happy tears. I know you too well Bella." He kept using the pet name he'd invented back when we were 16 and it was adding to the memories running circles round my brain.
"I've just had some unpleasant revelations about myself. It's nothing new." He placed his hand on the bare flesh of my back and the memories changed. They were memories of Vegas. I smiled.
"Now what revelations might we have here?" He asked touching my lips with his thumb.
"Very different, immoral revelations Aswari." The twinkle in my eyes had returned.
"I like that smile; you should wear it more often," he whispered in my ear as the song ended. I rolled my eyes and took his arm. He led me towards the table where he had been sitting enamored with his Jack Daniels. The waiter came over as he saw us sitting down and asked for our order.
"I'll have a scotch on the rocks and the orange chicken," I said handing my menu back to him. Ari ordered the orange chicken as well.
"So my little Bella drinks scotch now?"
"I am twenty one."
"Yes I know. I do believe I missed your birthday."
"I got the only present from you I will ever need." That came out sounding way more sexual than it needed to.
"And just what might that be?" He leaned forward, closer to my face.
"When we were dating. You gave me a family when I needed it most. I can't imagine what my life would've been like if I hadn't fallen out of that tree." He smiled at me from across the table and I laid my hand on his.
"Would you like to be dating again?" I think I stopped breathing for a second. Before I got the chance to answer Micah was running over to offer me a dance.
"Would she like to be dating who again?" He asked touching my arm.
"Me," Ari sounded rather pissed off.
"No, no she would not," he answered.
"I think I can speak for myself." I hated to glare at Micah when he had been so nice to me when I was going mental trying to figure things out but he was just screwing everything up.
"So, Bella, this is my formal invitation. Do you want to go out?" I couldn't speak so I just nodded. If I couldn’t speak, Micah couldn’t breathe. His neck was turning an odd color of blue.
“Micah are you okay?” I turned from Ari to the older boy who looked as though he was about to faint. Instead he punched Ari in the face. Great... this is just what I need today guys. Since Ari just never could conform to people’s expectations he simply got up and walked towards the restrooms with his bleeding nose. Micah looked at me for a while from the other side of the room but I refused to acknowledge him. Tonight it was all about Bane, tomorrow Ari might kill him, but tonight was Bane’s night. Bane descended on my table as soon as Ari and Micah had left.
“Is everything okay?” She asked. No, everything is not okay.
“Yes ma’am. I will be fine. You just go about your wedding night as if nothing just happened.” I had to admit it was a jammin’ wedding. The music was awesome. I decided it was better to get up and do something rather than sit around feeling lonely. As I danced my way across the room I saw Calypso sitting by herself at a table.
“So Cally, are you up for a dance?” I asked pulling her behind me. It wasn’t really a question; more like fair warning. I didn’t care that I was probably the most embarrassing Dutchess in the known world. I danced because it made me happy and it made Calypso laugh. She was very graceful, very smart, and very easy going. I grabbed her hand and spun her around. The next thing I know Bane is there with us, looking less like a blushing regal bride, and more like a lunatic. I wanted it be always be like this. I wished to dance forever.
