The Eons Book Two-Chapter 2:

I was left with more questions than answers. Ari was just messing with me and I knew it but that didn’t take away the sting when I saw him and Charlotte together. I had suspicions about her relationship to Char and her purpose for being here but Bane thought I was just being over dramatic, but that couldn’t be the only thing that was wrong with her. I don’t think Alec liked her either but he wasn’t saying much.
Fifth watch was easy, it was just me. Tensions in the house were awfully high. Everyone was mad at Ari, Ari was mad at me. Living in the same house as him was terrible. Most nights I ended up sleeping in the trees. Then one night I saw Charlotte walking around outside. She was alone for the first time since she’d walked out of the woods. “Hey Charlotte, I have a question for you,” I jumped out of the tree landing on the ground behind her, knife in hand.
“Hello Falcon, how can I assist you this evening?” she asked.
“Well there was this guy that I knew about two years ago and I think he mentioned you once, you mind telling me if you know him?”
“Yes I would be happy to help but I must insist you put the knife away, after all, everyone is friends here.”
I slid the knife back into the holster on my thigh. “So, his name was Char, he was about your height, with blonde/white hair.”
Her cheery smile melted into panic as I stood there watching her. “How did you find out specks?”
My mouth opened slightly. “No way, no way, oh god no, you’re actually Char?”
              “Yeah,” she/he said.
              “You kissed Ari!”
“Yeah, and? Wait you guys aren’t still a thing are you?”
“No but still, Ari’s not gay.”
“He’s not? Then why would he kiss me?”
              “Because you’re a chick?”
“Oh I almost forgot about that.”
“How do you forget you are a girl?”
              “It’s complicated.”
              “Really now?”
“Just please swear you won’t tell Ari,” Charlotte said. Char had always been a woman at heart but actually seeing him as a girl was weird. On the bright side my jealousy of Charlotte was replaced with fear of the weirdness of this situation.
I just left her to think about the conversation that we’d just had. This day could not get any stranger. I climbed back into the tree and grabbed my stuff, maybe this was just a hallucination caused by too much stress.
The next morning we all had weapons training. We started out with the usual targets and then I was informed that we’d be trying hand to hand combat again.  Ash still thought I should fight Ari but this time I think he was more afraid I would rip his heart out and force feed it to Charlotte. Before we started Ash made Bane and Calypso take all my weapons.
He read us the rules, I wasn’t really paying attention. He called for silence and the fight started. Ari swung, I ducked,I swung, Ari groaned. I kicked him in the chest and pin him on the ground. Ash called for the fight to stop but I just kept hitting Ari. There was a lot of anger pent up from this heart break. In the end it took Alec, Ash, Bane, Calypso, and Charlotte to pull me off him and calm me down.
Let’s just say Ari’s face did not look too good. I walked downstairs for lunch and just Ari was sitting at the kitchen table.

“Hey,” I said sitting down.

“What do you want?” he asked.

“To tell you Charlotte is really Char,” I replied as I saw Charlotte walking downstairs.

“Falcon how could you say that?” Charlotte whined, retreating upstairs.

“Wow, that’s a new low even for you,” Ari glared at me.

“I’m not lying to you!” I exclaimed.

“Look I know you don’t like me anymore but that doesn’t mean you have to ruin every relationship I try to have!” Ari was mad. Out of his mind mad.

“Ari I just don’t-” I was cut off as Ari’s fist made contact with my jaw and I hit the floor. If that’s how you want it the 2 can play. I thought to myself as I wiped blood from my mouth. I kicked him twice before he flipped me over his arm and onto the table. I punched him in the diaphragm and slid off the table, but he grabbed my hand and flipped me again onto the floor. Instead of letting go, I gripped his hand harder and slung him into the French doors. Ash came downstairs because of all the noise and made us stop. I was sent outside like an animal, while Ari was spoken to like a rational person. Ash favored Ari because they’d known each other forever. It was all stupid Char’s fault. What guy gets reincarnated as a girl anyway?

I just climbed back into my tree. Later I saw Ari bringing Charlotte outside. She kissed him and he kissed back, picking her up and slamming her on the hood of Ash’s black Mercedes. Gentlemen are just truly nonexistent. Charlotte started to make these groaning noises that even I could hear. I had the recording I’d made of Charlotte admitting she was Char. Originally, it was proof that she knew Char or was some kind of demon, now it was proof that she actually was Char. Now was a good time to tell Ari that he was about to tongue kiss a guy pretending to be a girl.

“Hey Char,” I yelled. Charlotte looked up; somehow she’d rolled on top of Ari, who was now on his back on top of Ash’s car. “First of all I’d like for you to listen to something, second of all, Ari hates to be on the bottom.” Ari’s face went so red. They peeled themselves off of the car and stood in the driveway. I played the recording of our conversation and Charlotte backed away slowly. Ari turned around; I’d never seen him this mad. “Is this true?” he yelled. “Yes,” he/she squeaked. “You were going to let me make out with you and you are actually Char?” he was screaming and he looked as if he was going to punch Char.  “Well yes, I was hoping I could turn you gay,” he said running his hands down Ari’s chest. Ari did punch him then. He stormed off into the house and I heard his bedroom door slam from the yard.

“So the death ritual, how many souls did you need for that?” Char asked looking rather depressed.

“Just one,” I replied. Char started walking towards the woods, mumbling he would catch up with me later. I was feeling bad that I had probably just driven Char to the brink of suicide, but that’s what Ari does to you. Ash came outside looking rather upset.
“Can I help you?” I asked as he stopped in front of me.
“Yeah, get back together with Ari,” he said angrily. I punched him in the stomach. Yeah, that was going to happen real quick. He grimaced.
“Look I can’t lead this flock when two of my best warriors are fighting each other instead of the enemy.”
“Ash we’re all your best warriors, and what enemy? I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the only enemies there seems to be around here is me and Ari.” I was screaming at him now. I was just tired of everyone around here assuming that Ari and I would work out. Clearly we wouldn’t. He died his hair darker and his eyes got this emerald shade of green I could hardly resist, but that didn’t mean I was still deeply in love with him, who was I kidding? I couldn’t stop thinking of Ari, but was I going to tell him or Ash that? No.
