The Eons Book Two-Chapter 10:

I was up late one night, browsing youtube for some good music, when Bane rushed in my room. At 21 years old she had grown to be quite the leader.

“Oh my god,” she was glowing as she sat breathlessly on my bed.

“Yes, oh wise one?” She rolled her eyes at me, but the rosy tint in her cheeks didn’t go away.

“So, Ash proposed.” She said. We screamed and jumped and screamed and jumped, until Calypso burst in and demanded to know what was going on. Then the three of us screamed and jumped. We were never very good at acting our ages, even past 20.  That night the wedding planning began for a wedding nearly a year away. She had set the date as May 14, 2019. Bane had always been a humble person so being showered with so much attention I think almost scared her.  Around December we went back to the states to go wedding dress shopping. It was the most fun I have ever had. Waseem, Ari, and Alec went with us. They even picked out a few dresses for her to try on. After the 10 dress we got to see, Bane finally found the perfect dress, it was off white with an a-line neck and cut off shoulder sleeves. None of the girls could stop smiling.

“You know what we should do while we are here?” Bane asked after Waseem bought her dress. “We should get the bridesmaid’s dresses.”  The saleslady was certainly happy  to help us spend more money. There were walls full of colors, styles, and designers. We agreed that the dresses should be white and knee-length. Calypso came out wearing a knee length, pleated, white dress that was absolutely perfection. Waseem spent another small fortune for those. After Bane ordered the suits for our lovely groomsmen, we made our way back to the van. The ride back was full of planning for seating, venue, flowers, food, and decorations. I never realized how much time and effort went into planning a wedding. I walked in the house and I saw the front door was open. Stepping onto the porch, I saw about 200 former Horrors.

“What in the name of Jesus are you doing here?” I asked to them in general.

“We are here to fall into our rightful place as servants. We have accepted defeat and wish to offer our most sincere apologies to King Waseem,” a male to my left said. The others nodded.

“Wait, King Waseem?” I had not heard anything about the return to a monarchy.

“Of course. You are his faithful knight. The one who set fire to the palace of Todd. I am Micah, I was the one who put the fire out. “ Okay. This dude is wacked out. He thinks Waseem is a king, I’m a knight, and he thinks he put my fire out.

“ASH!” Where was our faithful leader when you needed him?

“What?” He asked walking out of the house with a root beer in hand.

“Could you explain this please?” I gestured to the teenagers.

“Yeah. They’re Eons now. They asked to join us. What’s the big deal?”

“Where are they going to live? We only have like seven bedrooms,” for a genious Ash was an idiot sometimes.

“Right. I didn’t really think of that.” Of course he didn’t think of that. So that night we feasted outside. Waseem stood and raised his glass. Everyone shut up.

“I would like to toast Bane and Ash and their upcoming wedding. That said, I have a gift for the two of you. As the original six of you know, I consider all of you my children, and I would like to give my kingdom, crown, power, and fortune to Bane and Ash as a gift to my oldest, wisest, children.” The look on Ash’s face was priceless. Bane almost fainted. The party and toasts lasted until the early hours of the morning. Waseem took the newest members of the flock to the castle. I went upstairs to begin packing for our move to the castle in Usebekastan. It was sad to think that I would have to leave our beautiful house here in Canada. Calypso came in and helped me pack up. She was very quiet and looked troubled.

“Everything okay Calypso?” I asked pushing my laptop into it’s lovely black case.

“I guess leaving here makes me wonder what it would be like if we had never shown up in the first place.” She folded my sheets and placed them into another bag.

“We wouldn’t have to leave, or get to watch Bane get married, or Ash give us alcohol, or throw flaming matches at crazy emo teenagers.”  Hearing her laugh was reassuring.

“What is Ash going to do without his French doors?”  I laughed at that. Those stupid doors had been broken at least 10 times.

“I don’t think he will survive. I am going to miss this view though.”  The skyline from my window was my favorite picture in the whole world, the sun rising over the trees, illuminating my little peice of Canada.

“Do you think that we will change, once we move?” I couldn’t honestly answer that. In 6 years, a lot had changed, and we had all changed with it. I heard a knock from the inside of the bathroom door. Oh so now they knock?

“Yes, enter, come in,” I called opening my dresser and removing my pants from it. For the first time in 6 years my closet was emptied. Ari walked in with my t-shirt and Calypso laughed rather hard at how red my face was.

“I thought you might want this back,” he handed me my favorite concert t-shirt from the Paramore show we visited last year.

“Thanks.” I tried not to let the redness linger in my face.  Ari turned to leave and Calypso still had not stopped laughing. I was going to miss this house.
