The Eons: Book Two

Chapter Seven

The Eons Book Two-Chapter Seven:

The ground was covered in blood. It looked like there had been a small massacare. The trees didn’t feel safe anymore. I felt afraid in my own house for the first time in two years.

    “Are you okay?” I asked as we watched carefully for any signs of Demons.

    “My face hurts a bit from where I got hit but other than that I am fine,” he said touching his face where I knew there would be bruises in the morning. “You okay?”

    “I’m fine. Just some small cuts. I will bandage them after watch. How’s your mom?” Ari’s mom was the only surviving member of his family. He had heard from her last summer and we had even visited her once or twice before we broke up.

    “I told her to get out of South Carolina. I don’t think the United States is going to be very safe very much longer.”

“That’s good advice. Something moved in the bushes to your right.” Ari pushed his knife through the bushes.

    “It was a rabbit. I’m sure you’re happy to see Waseem again.”

    “I don’t know I feel like he shows up only to run right back out again. But it’s nice to get a reminder of my parents every once in awhile.”

    “Well you know you always have a family in us.”

    “That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day.”

    “ Falcon, you are quite the interesting girl.” Ari smirked. I smiled again. I could see his breath as he exhaled into the blackness.

    “Is that a good thing?”

    “Very.” Ari grinned at me. I missed the days when we could just talk. I shook my head and laughed. He pulled my bangs behind my ear. I stopped and turned to him. I grabbed his arm and he stopped too. His body was closer to mine when he turned around. I kissed him quickly but it was like I had been hit by lighting. I pulled away quickly and returned to watching. Then his hand was on my arm, turning me, pulling me to him. His kiss was electric and intoxicating. Ash yelled at us from the house that first watch was over. We broke into a run and once we were back in the house. I ran to the basement and let myself pass out in the bean bags.
