Most of your morning and afternoon was filled with cleaning, healing those in pain with your mother, dancing practice for celebrations, and preparing weapons for hunts, but you wanted to finish all of these things quickly so you would be able to have extra time to squeeze in with Neteyam. It was too bad you were continually distracted by these ideas of him, it showing a flaw in your work ethic. How could you not think about him? He was basically the only person on your mind lately, other than Ao'nung and his apology. It was a shock to you how he did apologize, it came out of left field.
You sighed as you finished sharpening a harpoon, placing it back on its rack before raising yourself back up on the bridge. Luckily you were so used to this lifestyle that you weren't sore in most places— except your wrist. It was darker than before now and showed clear four fingered marks. It was a little embarrassing for you to walk around with it out, so you would cross your arms and hope that no Na'vi ask any questions.
You smiled when you noticed a head of medium braids around the tall rock you and Neteyam would usually sit on, your heart beat picking up as you ran over to the rock. You crawled up the stone and let out a hiss once you got on top, Neteyam turning his head as you held your wrist. The boy's eyebrows furrowing in worry as he helped you walk further to the top to sit with him, Neteyam questioning,
"Is your wrist alright?" Before you moved your hand off of your skin. Neteyam took a breath in as he looked over, noticing the darkness had gotten even deeper.
"What is his punishment?" Neteyam asked in a more serious tone.
"I'm not sure.. If I asked my dad he wouldn't tell me. I don't want to ask Ao'nung.." you sighed, leaning your shoulder into Neteyam's. The boy shook his head, moving his hair behind his shoulder.
"Whatever he gets it isn't enough." Neteyam raised his head up, looking over the water. You were quiet to his words, knowing whatever excuses you would have for Neteyam wouldn't be enough to persuade the boy to think any differently.
"Thank you for caring about me." You breathed out, the boy's eyes on you once more. He reached and placed his hand on your leg, placing a soft comforting squeeze.
"Of course. I will always care about you.." his voice became soft, his hand rubbing gently against your skin.
"I will always care for you too, Neteyam." You smile, the boy wearing one of his own.
The two of you became quiet after this, noticing Neteyam's large hand rubbing over your thigh. He let out an awkward 'ahem' before beginning to moving his hand back over to his lap, you saying quickly,
"You don't have to move your hand, Neteyam.." the teen looked over you after your words, eyes blinking in surprise.
"Oh.. Okay, if you'd like." He spoke, scooting himself over to sit thigh to thigh with you. It was hard to contain the grin once he did this, a soft giggle erupting from your throat.
"What are you laughing at?" He hummed, hand squeezing on your thigh playfully.
"Nothing~.. I'm just happy." You laughed, your forehead leaning against Netayam's neck. The teen laid his own head against yours, both of you comfortably sitting against one another while looking over the water.
Your eyes fluttered open when you heard the laughing of boys a bit away, Ao'nung and his friend's out by the sandbar. Netayam lifted his head from yours as he saw him, eyebrows furrowing. You didn't want to create any beef between your brother and.. Friend.
"(Y/n)!" A soft voice called from below, both you and Neteyam's attention going down to your younger sister. She waved for you to come to her, Neteyam's hand secretively sliding off your thigh as you stood up.
