You leaned anxiously against your hut, staring into the moving sea. Not only were you losing patience waiting for the Tulkun that would soon be in your reef, but for the possible talk you would have with your father. After Tonowari saw you this morning he was silent, this quietness leaving a sour feeling on your tongue. Was he acting this way because he knew what you did last night, or something completely different? Whatever the answer was, you were ready to throw up your breakfast.
You took in and out a slow breath, body growing cold without the touch of Neteyam. He had been glued to the back of your mind in a way you never felt before, practically hearing his whisper in your ear. Having a mate was more fulfilling than you could ever imagine, the need to know everything he was doing, where he was, and who he was with thoughts nudged at your mind. You knew he felt the same way as too, Neteyam probably just as eager to see you. You were concerned for him at the moment though, not sure how his parents reacted to him being mated to you. You knew his father yelled at him, but at the same time it wasn't like mating with another could be reversed. You were forever with each other, an unending oath that could never be canceled.
You flinched out of your thoughts when you felt Tonowari's hand on your shoulder, the man taking in and out a slow breath.
"Come inside please, I need to talk to you and Ao'nung." He ordered, leading you inside by your back. You nodded your head, a nervous feeling taking over your body.
Ao'nung stood silently, eyes wearing a worried look as he flashed them between you and the floor. You then stood quietly next to the taller boy, Tonowari taking in a slow breath. You could feel the tension rising, your adoptive father releasing the breath from his lips.
"I have decided that today you will be mated. This is going to be a celebration for all of us, the Tulkun coming will be very excited-" as he continued to speak, your heart beginning to beat so loud in your head that Tonowari's words started to fade out. Even thinking about mating another made you horrendously nervous, your body beginning to sweat even considering it.
"I cant!" You yell suddenly, eyes fluttering wide as you looked up to Tonowari. His eyebrows furrowed to down to you, anger showing over his face.
"What do you mean by this, (Y/n)?" The man asked, your stomach flipping over and over again to his domineering tone. Ao'nung wore a confused look on his face as he turned his head to you, eyes widening the more his pupils over your face.
"I-I.." you breathed out, gulping harshly before saying,
"I have mated with Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan." Tonowari gasped as he stepped back from you, shaking his head.
"You did this with the knowledge that you were arranged to marry my son? To become the Tsahìk of the Metkayina clan?" He yelled in frustration, you flinching at his tone.
"I can't believe you done this.. Do you have any ide-"
"They are here!"
"They have came home!"
Voices began to yell with excitement outside of the hut, your father huffing as he walked pass you to grab his shoulder piece to wear to the water to greet the Tulkun. Your heart began to feel more comfortable though, knowing that no matter what Tonowari did he could not change the fact that you have mated to Neteyam.
"We will talk about this after.. Out of all days you could have done this.." he grumbled, then walking out of the tent to quickly celebrate the arrival of the Tukun.
