Chapter 18: ''I love you too.''

It had been months only, and it seems Tomioka is fitting very well with humans, well that's what Sanemi thought. He's glad he's finding comfort among us and that he has literally charmed almost everyone he knows. I mean, he's beautiful like how the fuck are you so beautiful. Tomioka and Sanemi would sometimes bond with the Kamaboko squad. The Kamaboko squad saw Shinazugawa and Tomioka as a parent and they love them both so much.

As days continue Sanemi grew more soft and kind because of Tomioka, not much people would now fear Sanemi. Thanks to Tomioka making Sanemi's heart finally open. Obanai got scared thinking Sanemi was under the curse of Tomioka, he had never thought Sanemi would be so kind. Mitsuri found it adorable, Shinobu preferred this version of Sanemi, Uzui was flabbergasted, Rengoku was happy Sanemi had changed cause of Tomioka, Muichiro is still not used to it, and Gyomei was reliefed. 

Sanemi made a promise to Tomioka, once all the demons are gone and the demon king is defeated, he would marry Tomioka and live a peaceful life. Retired from being a demon slayer, and spending his entire life with the love of his life. 

A year later, the promise was the only thing kept in Sanemi''s mind, as soon as the demon king had struck at the Ubuyashiki estate. The master had sacrificed his life and left the rest of the demon slayers  Lady Tamayo and Yushiro finish off the demon king. Sanemi assured Tomioka he would return safely, then left to fight. Leaving Tomioka is despair for Sanemi to come back alive.

Everyone fought with every ounce of strength. The demon king had already made people suffer too much, and it's time the rapid killings and suffering end. The fight felt like ages, everyone was giving their best, when the demon king finally had it's breath. Many sacrifices we're made, but it's worth, it's finally over. (Well technically, all the Hashiras died except Tomioka and Sanemi in the manga, but for the sake of everyone's heart, all the Hashiras lived but lost some body parts  or was left with a incurable injury. See? Author is very kind🥰)

Sanemi almost died, causing him to have a glimpse of his death. 

Sanemi's POV: What is this place? Is this hell? Wait is that my family? ''Father I-'' Sanemi received a slap from his father. Sanemi's' mother turned to Sanemi. ''You can't die yet! Go and fulfill your promises! Live for Genya and that your lover!'' She yelled out. ''Wake up onii-chan!'' One of the siblings cried out. 

''Wake up, please wake up'' Sanemi heard a soft voice sobbing. When Sanemi's vision finally got clearer, he saw Tomioka in tears. He was holding his hand clearly in despair for Sanemi to stay with him. ''Please don't go too.'' Tomioka cried out. ''Don't worry I'm still here, I'm so glad I get to see you again. I missed you.'' Sanemi said. ''I miss you too, Sanemi'' Tomioka replied.

After the battle cleanup, Sanemi asked Tomioka to wait for him as he attends a short meeting with the Hashiras and Ubuyashiki family. After when the Demon Slayers are officially over due to the demons finally being wiped out, the Hashiras thanked the Ubuyashiki family for leading and guiding everyone. Everyone left and Sanemi found Tomioka in a bench under a blossom tree. (which is clearly dead)

''Shall we go?'' Sanemi asked. Tomioka nodded and wrapped his right arm to Sanemi's. Sanemi had patiently waited till night time, when he asks Tomioka to go somewhere with him. Tomioka being curious, agreed and Sanemi changed to a light green kimono, while Tomioka wore a blue one. The two had left the estate and began walking to a quite familiar place. 

It was the same beach which was restricted and where Sanemi and Tomioka had met. Sanemi guided Tomioka and carefully led him to the seashore safely. ''Sanemi, why are we here?'' Tomioka asked. ''Just wait, don't worry.'' Sanemi replied.

Sanemi and Tomioka reached to the exact place where they had met, Sanemi stopped walking and went in front of Tomioka, holding his hands. ''I had been waiting for just the right time to say this to you. I had fell in love with you the day we met, I never thought my dull heart would ever be lighten up again. You changed everything for me, you even changed me. I always thought my life was pointless, but that thought of mine changed when you stepped into my life. You gave me a reason to live other than my brother. I seriously love you, so I wanna ask...'' Sanemi kneeled pulling out a ring.

''Will you marry me?'' Sanemi said. Tomioka was in tears, ''Sanemi, are you serious?'' Tomioka wanted to know. ''Yes, I am.'' Sanemi replied. ''Cause yes!'' Tomioka cried out with tears of joy. Sanemi's eyes lit up, he quickly stood up and slipped the ring on Tomioka's finger. ''I fucking love you, Tomioka.'' Sanemi said as he carried Tomioka, ''I love you too.'' Tomioka replied. And with that, this couple is finally engaged.
