Seventeen

Firstly happy new year! I hope you've all had a good one!

I've currently got a take away on the way and I'm going to try and get at least one more chapter done tonight.

I know this story is slow burn & I'm sorry but I just go with what feels right when I'm writing.

I'm going to try to write & upload more.

When Monday morning finally came Toni was nervous, she and Cheryl still hadn't spoken and she'd practically laid everything out on the table. Her stomach had been doing somersaults every time she thought about running into the redhead.

Sweet Pea, Jughead and Fangs gave Toni the serpent rundown when she met them before school. Penny was now under the watchful eye of FP in a hidden location.

Probably locked away in a basement somewhere and it was possible she wouldn't see the light of day again.

But even with a psycho gang looming in the shadows of Riverdale Toni was still more concerned with Cheryl.

'You missed out on starting the student lounge last week. We've got everything we need now all we need to do is up-cycle everything,' Fangs said.

'Even the items assigned to Cheryl and I?'

'Yes T. We've got everything. I think Jason helped Cheryl get the bookshelf'.

'Oh, okay'.

'Weatherbee's expecting to reopen the lounge tomorrow so todays gonna be a busy day,' Sweet Pea said with a roll of his eyes.

'Today?' Toni repeated, her stomach dropped.

'Yep'. Jughead nodded, 'come on'.

Toni followed the boys into the student lounge keeping her head down as she tried not to show her anxiousness.

'T!'

A body collided with hers before she'd even had chance to look up.

'Jason,' Toni said patting the boy on the back.

'It's so good to see you back,' he said with a huge grin.

'Move over let us say hi,' Veronica said with a smile wrapping her arms around the serpent followed by Betty and Tabitha.

Once the girls pulled away Toni cleared her throat, she wasn't quite used to this amount of physical contact. When she lifted her eyes they landed on the person she'd been thinking about religiously.

Cheryl.

The brunette gave her an awkward smile which was just as awkwardly returned. Toni wasn't stupid, she could feel everyone's eyes on the two of them.

'Hey,' Toni said as cool as she could before finding a seat.

'Hi Toni'.

'All right,' Jason said clapping his hands together obviously feeling the strange tension in the air. 'Shall we get started?'

'Let's do it,' Sweet Pea said.

Everyone moved towards their part of the project leaving Toni sat looking at her feet before she finally decided to stand up and make her way over to the redhead.

'So uh, what have I missed?' Toni asked as she stood awkwardly in front of Cheryl, thankfully no one was paying them any attention now.

'I got the bookshelf and paint,' Cheryl said nodding her head towards the bookshelf and variety of paints spread on the shelves.
