Chapter 21: Maverick's Plan

"We now know what their after, the crystals," Dia said holding her compact in her hands. She was with the other girls in her family's tea room.

"That was too close for comfort for me," said Minako.

"But what do they want from me and the crystals?" Usagi asked.

"Both crystals hold incredible power capable of anything at the beholder's command,"said Hotaru.

"Hotaru-chan's right," said Dia. "Unspeakable things could happen if they got into the wrong hands. Things like the destruction of the universe."

"Dia-san, who are they exactly," Setsuna asked something everyone else in the room was wondering. Dia had gone up against them all before.

"The are known as the Egrosphere and they are the destroyers of planets and stars alike. I can't even call my last fight with them a win. They're persistent and believe in what they do is the best. Returning our universe to the way it was billions of billions years ago--a dark, cold wasteland. I am here to at least change that, to save those that weren't able to before."

"Whether you are here or not, that doesn't make the sitaution any better," Haruka blurted.

"Haruka," Michiru gasped.

"Hey don't--"

"I'm right though right," she interrupted Makoto. The room was silent as they all looked at Haruka. "This "burden" you say you are carrying is nothing but talk. You, we, have not accomplished anything. Who do you think you are? You say you want to help, but nothing you have done so far proves that you are." Haruka turned to leave.

"Haruka please," said Michiru, "Dia-san--"

Dia had a saddened look upon her face, "You're right, I feel as though nothing has improved lately. I'm actually very afraid, but know that I'm trying everything in my power to help to change the future!"

Haruka turned her head away, "Sure, whatever. Thanks for the tea." She left the room.

"Haruka-san! This isn't the time for us to be arguing. We have to stick together more than ever now!" Ami said wondering if Haruka heard her words.

"Haruka!" Michiru chased after her.

"What should we do?" Usagi asked.

"At times like these, it is best to let her clear her mind," said Setsuna. She stood up and bowed, "Thank you for the tea, Dia-san. We will be leaving now." She and Hotaru stepped out of the room.

"I have to be at the theatre in 30 minutes, see you later," Minako left.

"Yes thank you all for coming," Dia bowed. Everyone left the house. Dia and her parents with Hikaru stood waving.

Rei, on her way out, is walking with Minako. "Oh, oh taxi!" She stopped the taxi and opened the door. "Hey Rei, you coming with?"

"Oh no, thanks," Rei pulls out her cellphone. "Rikuto and I have a date today."

"Really?!" Minako blushes excitedly.

"I'll tell you about it when I get back."

"Okay, see you later," Minako get into the taxi and drives off.

Rei goes to Rikuto on her contacts and calls him.
