The next morning, Lovino awoke in a bed that didn't belong to him. He began to panic but remembered that he was at Alfred's place. But how exactly did he end up in his bed?

Lovi wandered through Al's house until he eventually found the living room. Alfred had fallen asleep on the couch where they shared their first kiss. Should I wake him up? The Italian thought better of it and did not wake the snoozing blond. He made breakfast instead.

An hour and half a carton of eggs later, Alfred awoke to a delectable smell. Walking into his kitchen he found Lovi standing over his counter.

"Good morning!" the American said, rubbing his eyes and stretching.

Lovino looked up to see that he was standing there, with nothing on except for the jeans he fell asleep in last night.

"Morning, bastard." Lovi placed the plate in front of Alfred amd tried to conceal the relentless blush from the night before.

Al noticed the pink tint on his face and ears and chuckled. "Like what you see?" he said cockily, and flexed for emphasis.

"Just eat your goddamn eggs, asshole."

Alfred laughed.

"By the way, how did I end up in your bed? W-we didn't...er...do anything...did we?" Lovino questioned.

"Oh! Uhh...n-no we didn't. You just fell asleep and I thought you might be more comfortable in there. That's all, I promise." Alfred replied.

"Oh...t-thank you..." Lovi was a little suprised (but grateful, nonetheless) by his kind gesture. He carried him all the way upstairs and tucked him into bed, and then slept on the couch.

"No problem, dude."

The young Italian had just recieved a phone call bearing new of his grandfather, who was still in the hospital. The doctors claimed he wasn't doing as well as they hoped.

"We're very sorry, sir. We don't know if he will make it through the night."

"What do you mean he won't make it through the night?! He was ok yesterday!" Lovino argued with the doctors, as if the denial could save his nonno. Alfred heard the shouting and walked in to the room. The tears in Lovi's eyes were easy to miss, but Al could see them. He waited until the phone call was over to say anything, if he should say anything at all.

"He suffered severe burns and breathed lots of the carbon dioxide from the fire. The gas is very poisonous to humans. We're sorry, Mr. Vargas, there is nothing we can do."

The phone call ended. A silence drifted all across the house, but broken when Lovino slammed his fist down on a table. The tears that were pooling in his eyes before were streaming down his face now.

Alfred's presence went unnoticed.

Lovino collapsed onto the floor, chest heaving from heavy sobs. Al didn't know what to do.

Feliciano and his brother had been raised by their grandpa ever since they were young children, and the loss of him would be more than they could bear. Lovino decided that he should try to comfort his little brother, who must be heartbroken at the news.

Alfred was finally noticed when the brunette turned around, wide eyed.

"You listened to all that?"

"W-well I heard shouting and I thought I should come see whats up..." Alfred nervously scratched the back of his neck. Then he decided that staying and listening was probably a bad idea.

"I'm leaving" Lovino pushed past Alfred while trying to hide his tear stained face.
