Nobody knew where they were going or what they wanted at this time. Did the Vargas brothers want to be left alone, or be with each other, or be with friends? Did Alfred want to talk to Lovino, or did he want to give him some space? Did Lovino even want to see Al again?
Thinking was for a later time, a time when thoughts and emotions were stable. Right now, Lovi didn't want to think.
So he didn't. He just drove. He drove for miles, hoping to find some sort of comfort or familiarity that could take his mind of the recent events.
Every passing tree, car, road sign, all looked the same. For hours into the evening, the tires of his car turned and spun, taking him further away from the hospital, the wreckage of the restaurant, his brother, and Alfred.
Minutes pooled into hours, and the young man couldn't take this any more. Lovino finally decided that for the first time in forever, he didn't want to be alone. And he knew exactly where he wanted to be.

A knock on the door startled Alfred from the game show he was watching. With only a small idea of who it could be, he approached the door and opened it slowly.
Lovino would be the last person he would expect to see on the faded welcome mat infront of his home. Just by looking at the young man, you could tell that something was wrong. His posture was tired and depressed, his head hanging low.
"I left my jacket here." Lovino said with a hoarse voice.
Alfred saw straight through his lie, and when Lovino stepped into the house, Al grabbed him and pulled him into a tight hug. Much to his surprise, Lovi hugged him back just a tight.
The overcast clouds drifted by in gray clumps and the smell of rain was evident in the air. The water collecting in the sky was about to pour down on them.
For a while, no words were exchanged between the two as they stood in each others arms. The warmth of Alfreds embrace was comforting, but Lovino would never admit that.
Once again, the quiet they were sharing was disturbed by two little words. Words that were seemingly insignificant, but meant the world.
"I'm sorry." Alfred whispered.

Heavy rain drops slapped the glass of the window as the two sat at the kitchen table. They refused to talk about the week's events. For now, both Alfred and Lovino were perfectly content with just chit-chat.
Until a huge clap of thunder shook the house, that is. Alfred jumped in his chair.
"What, are you afraid of thunder of something?" Lovino asked.
"Psh...w-what? The hero would n-never be scared of something as l-little as-" another strike of thunder interupted him and he jumped again. "...t-thunder."
Lovino laughed.
"Dude! Stop lauging! It's not funny!"
"Haha! Sorry, but...thunder?! Ahaha! Out of all the things in the world, you're afraid of thunder. Don't be scared, dumbass. It's just sounds and shit."
Alfred didn't listen to the little speech Lovi gave. He was to busy listening to the sound of his wonderful laugh. And to the thunder, of course.
"Listen..." the Italian continued and waited for more rumbles from the sky. The third reverberation of thunder came as if on cue. "Just relax and listen to it." He said and closed his eyes.
Alfred could not relax.
"Here," Lovino said, his eyes still closed, "just imagine that God went bowling of something." Another perfectly timed crack of thunder roared through the house. "See? He just got a strike."
Alfred couldn't help but laugh at Lovino's explanation of thunder. "Really, man? Bowling?" Alfred chuckled.
"Oh, shut it, asshole. I'm trying to make you feel better."
"Haha, thanks dude. It worked."
For the rest of the rainy, dark night, the two kept making up absurdly hilarious reasons for the sound of thunder and watched the rain fall in heavy sheets onto the road.

Hi. Funny story about the inspiration for this chapter, actually. When I was little, I was really scared of thunder, so my dad always told me silly little things to make me feel better, like God was going bowling, or moving furniture and we would spend the night thinking of things causing the thunder. Lol so i just had to put it in the story. Remember to vote and comment guys!! I wanna hear what you think!! Hasta la pasta my lovely readers!!
