For a while, a few days to be exact, Lovino did nothing more than lie in his room and think of his grandpa. He never knew it could hurt so much to lose someone so abruptly, to have them slip through your fingers like water. It hurt him even more to know that Alfred could do nothing but worry for him as he went through this. He felt so pathetic. He could barely get out of bed and he did nothing but cause worry. God what is wrong with me? At least Feli can pretend to be ok for a while. He never causes so much worry. Lovi thought.

A knock on the door yanked him away from his depressed thoughts. It creaked open to reveal Alfred, who had opened the door just enough so Lovi could see only one of his eyes. Al pressed his lips to the crack in the door and mumbled, "Can I come in?"

The Italian stiffled a small smile at Alfred's strange way of asking for entry. He quickly covered it up, though, and resumed his unhappy demeanor.
"Yeah, fine."

Alfred walked in with his usual grin on his face. "So," he began, "I've been thinking-"

"That's new."

"I know ri- Hey! Meanie...anyways, so the fair came to town, and I've been thinking about going. And then I thought, 'Hey! Lovi should totally come! It'll help to cheer him up!' So, whaddya say, bro?"

Lovino pondered the offer. "Meh, I've got nothing better to do." he answered with a nonchalant shrug.

"Awesome, dude! Meet me at seven by the dunk tank!" exclaimed Alfred as he ran out the door. Lovi was left with himself to think.

...What the hell? Why the dunk tank?

Glancing from his watch, and back to the strangely vacant dunk tank, he waited for Alfred. He was still very confused. Why the hell would Alfred want to meet him at the dunk tank?

His questions didn't go unanswered for long. A minute later, a familiar face appeared inside the dunk tank. And it was Alfred's.

Lovino was torn between staring in shock and laughing out loud. He went for a mix of both.

"Hey Lovi!" Al called.

"What the hell are you doing in there, idiota?" Lovi replied.

"I'll tell ya later dude! Now try and hit the little target down there!" the blond pointed to a small red circle. "If you hit it, this thing will drop me into the water!"

A man with white hair and strange red eyes came up and handed him three baseballs.

"...Really?" Lovi rolled his eyes.

"Yeah! Just try!" the white haired one snickered.

Grasping one of the baseballs in his hand, he gave in and chucked it at the tiny target. He just barely missed it.

"Aw, come on! Is that all ya got?" Al teased. This time, Lovino picked up the ball and threw it directly at the target. Though, he hadn't thrown it hard enough to knock Alfred in, so the little ball only bounced off and away from the little target. This inspired more taunting from the American in the cage.

"Wow, real impressive Lovi." he said sarcasticly, and laughed.

His mocking tone only aggrivated the Italian even more. He picked up the last ball and rolled it around his palm. With much focus, Lovino hurled it at the target with great force. The platform holding Alfred away from the water finally collapsed, and he was plunged into the freezing water below him.

"Gah!! W-why is the w-water so c-cold?!" He shouted as he treaded in the icy liquid.

His friends, Gilbert and Mathias, burst into laughter. "We snuck a shit ton of ice in there earlier! Haha! Its got to be like, ten degrees in there!!"

Alfred crawled out of the tank and approached his friends. He punched Mathias in the arm.

"Ow! What was that for?!" he exclaimed.

"You guys are assholes." Al said. This caused another round of laughter from Gilbert. Mathias, however, was not laughing, but rubbing the spot where his friend had punched him and mumbling about how bad it would bruise later.

The American had grabbed a towel from Gil and walked over to Lovino. He dryed his glasses and pushed them back up the bridge of his nose where they belonged.

"Why the hell were you in a dunk tank?" he questioned, his arms crossed.

"I wanted to cheer you up!" the enthusiastic blond replied. "Did it work?"

Lovino was secretly touched that Al would go through all this to make him laugh. He cracked a small smile.

"Yeah. It worked." he admitted quietly.

Al grabbed Lovi's waist and pulled him close, so their chests were touching. He tilted his chin up with a finger. "Good." he smiled, and kissed him.

Lovino could feel him grinning into the kiss, and his heart pounded against his ribs.
