London King's Cross Station stood in front of Nyx, casting an uneasy shadow over her.
She gulped as she watched the sky darken behind the station as if to mimic her own emotions. She got caught up in all the magic of Diagon Alley, she almost forgot why they were there in the first place.
Nyx stared sideways at her twin who was bouncing with excitement. Calypso pulled at their mothers hand, trying to run to the correct platform.
"Calypso," her mother laughed as Calypo pulled her hand away and ran ahead of them.
Nyx walked slowly beside her mother, her hand on the cart of their luggage and newly bought clothes and wands.
"Calypso, please don't run too far ahead," her mother called as Calypso's blonde head bobbed in and out of the muggle crowd that was stepping off the train.
Nyx gulped as she tried to stand on her tip toes to look for her twin. She couldn't see her blonde pigtails and a worrying feeling filled her stomach like rocks.
"Mom," Nyx whispered, before seeing a familiar blonde girl pop up behind an archway.
Calypso waved frantically at them before running back, "come on! We're going to be late, you guys are slow like turtles," she cried dramatically, pulling at their mothers sleeve again.
Her mother laughed, grabbing Calypso's hand before she could run off again. Calypso looked up at her impatiently before their mother pointed to the signs above each archway.
"We are already here, my dear," she explained as she pointed to platform 9 and platform 10.
A moment of realization dawned on Calypso's face as she looked between the two platforms, "where is our platform?"
Nyx peeked out from behind the cart, seeing no sign for platform 9 ¾. Her eyes furrowed as she looked between their mother and Calypso.
Her mother smiled, moving them closer to the walls and away from the Muggle crowds, "it's here, it's the archway barrier here that separates platform 9 and 10. We need to run straight into the wall and we will arrive on the other side where your father is waiting."
Nyx looked at the wall, not seeing anything special about it. If she didn't know better or trust her mother, she would think it was just a brick wall between the platforms.
"Can I go first?" Calypso asked, clasping her hands together.
Their mother nodded, looking around to make sure there were no muggles.
"Go sweetheart," their mother whispered, giving Calypso a small nudge.
Nyx watched as her twin ran straight for the platform wall. She jumped slightly just as Calypso hit the wall, disappearing into it.
"Your turn," her mother said, nudging her to the front of the cart to face the wall.
"I'm scared mom," Nyx admitted, her voice trembling slightly as she looked at the wall.
Her mother bent down to her level, moving a piece of her brown hair away from her eyes, "that's okay, everyone is scared the first time they do this. Just have an open mind and let the magic embrace you," she said, placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
Nyx smiled, nodding and facing the wall again. She took a deep breath, pushing the fear down and trying to let her mind open to the magic around them.
"One, two," she said slowly before running as fast as she could towards the wall.
As the wall neared, she closed her eyes. She felt the barrier around her subside as she opened her eyes again.
She saw a mess of blonde as she ran into someone. They both fell to the ground with a small thud and Nyx groaned as she pulled herself away from the person.
