The new school year was about to start and the Scamander family had left the shopping until the very last day.

Calypso and Nyx sat in the back seat of the family car, laughing at how irritated their parents were with one another.

Their mother was getting confused about the directions while their father was getting grumpy about having to keep turning around and wasting time trying to find their way to the entrance to Diagon Alley.

"Sweetheart, I love you but you're terrible at giving directions," their father said slowly, trying to keep the anger from showing.

Every passing minute was making him angrier and his knuckles were turning white from gripping the steering wheel so tight.

Their mother laughed, "I'd be better if you weren't distracting me with your nonsense! The girls need floral robes, they'd look so cute."

Nyx covered her mouth, laughing as their father muttered about the floral robes and that they didn't need them since they wouldn't be allowed to wear them during the school year.

"Your father is being a killjoy," their mother whispered, looking over her shoulder at Calypso and Nyx.

They both laughed as their father peered at them through the rear view mirror with a suspicious look.

"What was that?"

"Nothing dear," their mother responded
nonchalantly, looking at the map in her hands, "next left then we are there!"

Their father nodded, pulling up to the side of the sidewalk and parked.

He opened the doors and Nyx immediately jumped out, looking around.

Calypso followed after a moment, shivering as she pulled her sweater around her tighter and walked over to stand beside Nyx.

Nyx looked at Calypso with a smile before looking around the almost empty streets.

Clouds were gathering above and it looked like it would rain any minute. The wind howled through the streets, causing goosebumps to form on their arms.

"Kinda chilly," Nyx said with a shiver, looking around the area for the Leaky Cauldron.

To muggles, it looked empty and deserted. Like there was nothing to look at, but a small hole in the wall.

For the wizarding community, it was a place to hold special events.

Nyx scanned the area before her eyes landed on the sign for The Leaky Cauldron.

She pointed excitedly at the sign, grabbing Calypsos hand and pulling her towards the building.

They ran passed a muggle who told them watch where they were going, but Nyx paid the man no attention. Her attention was focussed on the building in front of her.

"Girls, slow down," their father urged, running to catch up to them and telling the man sorry on their behalf.

Their mother followed after this father, keeping her green jacket tight around her as the wind blew harder.

Nyx looked at the door, eagerly watching her father open the door and beckon them all inside. She hurriedly ran inside, looking around the shop.

The door closed behind the father and they all breathed in relief that it was warmer inside with a fire going in the far corner.

There weren't many people in the shop, except for a man who sat in a booth by the back wall.

He looked up tiredly before his eyes brightened at the sight of the family. The man stood quickly, hobbling over to them. His left leg was limping and he leaned against his cane for support.
