The summer flew by fast and Nyx was surprised as she woke one morning, seeing the remaining professors arrive.
They were arriving a few days before classes were to start and she heard from Calypso that she would be arriving a day early as she had stayed two weeks for their birthday.
Nyx smiled, thinking of her summer memories. The first two weeks of courses was hard as she had assignments and tests every few days.
After she got used to the schedule, she found herself spending many hours with Hydrus. They were trying to figure out what her dream meant that she had once more during the summer.
Though, she smiled happily to herself, he didn't have to save her from a large hole in the ground. She found herself standing at the entrance of an old classroom after the second dream.
She smiled as she sat up, running a hand through her tangled brown hair.
She hummed slightly as she dressed, thinking back to a week before.
Nyx stood by the large oak tree in the inner quad, doodling in her creature notebook. She enjoyed her Sundays by the tree, her only day off from her courses.
She smiled as she added a final touch to her Norwegian dragon drawing. She thought happily back to her memory of the babies hatching, wondering how they were doing.
"What are you drawing now?" Hydrus asked as he walked into the quad.
He stopped beside her, peering down at her drawing.
"The Norwegian dragons," she answered before closing her notebook with a small thud, "but you couldn't stop yourself from ruining such a good moment."
He chuckled, reaching down for her hand, "well I thought it was weird that three students were rushing off with a Professor so I decided to investigate."
"Right," she laughed, taking his hand and standing up.
His hand felt cool in hers and her heart raced as she stood in front of him, their hands still clasped together.
"You got to see two of them hatch at least," he said as he slowly pulled his hand away from hers.
She nodded, looking at his lips for a moment before passed him. She felt a blush creep on her cheeks, hoping he wouldn't notice.
Over the last few months, she felt butterflies grow in her stomach every time she was around Hydrus. He was easy to talk to and she grew close to him.
He no longer treated her differently for being a squib and she cherished their time together.
"So," he coughed and she shook her head, letting the thought disappear.
"Are you excited for classes to start again in a week?" She asked, leaning back against the oak tree.
He smiled softly and nodded, "yes. School is almost an escape for me from my family. I'm also excited to have a free period."
Nyx chuckled, "I bet and I'm very excited to be learning with 11 and 12 year olds."
He laughed, looking over her face, "they'll have to respect you since you're old."
She whacked his arm playfully, "I'm not old!"
"To them, you'll be ancient," he chuckled, brushing a piece of hair from her face.
Her breath got stuck in her throat as she looked into his grey eyes.
He licked his lips slowly, looking down at her lips for a moment.
