Julie's POV

"So when are you going to play for us mija?" Her Abuela asked her in the kitchen the next morning, laying a hand on Julie's back.

"Mhm," she swallowed her bite of toast, "we can play today if you want. Maybe after lunch?"

"¡Bueno! It has been too long since you last sang for me." Abuela rounded the counter, patting Ray on the back, who was making breakfast.

Julie's thoughts were elsewhere as they talked. She had predicted that her band would be playing for everyone at some point, but they didn't have a song picked out. She was thinking that she definitely wanted to play one of their first songs, and remembered that her notebook containing all of them was up in her room.

She slipped her plate into the sink before heading upstairs. Once inside, she shut her bedroom door, making her way across the floor and taking the notebook out of her desk. She sat on her bed, facing the window, flipping through the songs.

"What'cha doin'?" Luke phased through her door some minutes later, invisible to everyone else, she guessed.

"Oh, hey. My Abuela wants us to play for them this afternoon, and I want to do one of our first songs."

He sat next to her on the bed, close enough that she could lean against his shoulder. "What are you thinking?"

"I don't know. Right now I'm between Bright, Finally Free, and Edge of Great. Though they've already seen Edge of Great on YouTube."

She flipped a page and he stopped her, "aw, Perfect Harmony." He chuckled. "That brings back memories."

Julie smiled as she remembered the day she'd given Luke the song. Their feelings for each other had already been pretty much out there, so she'd finally worked up enough courage to play it with him. It had been one of the most beautiful moments she'd ever felt, and it ended with their first kiss. At least, until they were interrupted by Reggie, who came in screaming that the neighbors cat was trying to kill him.
