Julie's POV
"HAPPY HALLOWEEN!"
With extravagant hand gestures Julie and Flynn called out to each other simultaneously in the hall. The bell had just wrung for first period, which they were on their way to.
Flynn was the first to preach her excitement. "I can't believe it's already here! I've been waiting all season for this one day and I'm going to be hella depressed tomorrow because it'll be over. Well, I guess we'll have Christmas..."
"Yeah, I freaking love Halloween." Julie admired the decorations of cobwebs and bats on the ceiling, mummies and pumpkins here and there. "The dressing up, the candy, the scary movies, ugh. But you know the only person that loves it more than us is Carlos, which absolutely ruins it for everyone. He already scared my dad and I this morning when he jumped out of a kitchen cabinet. One of the top cabinets. You should've seen my dad, he threw his toast so hard it stuck to the window."
Flynn laughed, linking her arm through Julie's. "I would've paid to see that."
Sitting down hour by hour, the time ticking by at snail pace, Julie could hardly sit still. She felt like Reggie with an energy drink. The anticipation of that night's costume party, even if it was going to be at Carrie's, was driving her crazy. She and her band were performing, and for the first time she was going to be introducing them to everyone "in person." Julie's family and Flynn knew about the guys, but to everyone else they were still from Sweden.
Speaking of the party, Nick stopped her in the hall before sixth to ask her if she was going. Their quick, friendly conversation was cut short when Luke poofed in right next to Julie and scared the living shit out of her.
Recovering from her scream, she told a very concerned Nick, "sorry, I just, um, saw a ghost."
He looked around, and by some miracle there was an inflatable ghost not too far down the hall. Thankfully, he only laughed. "Oh, yeah it's creepy."
Luke didn't appreciate that.
Once Nick left, Julie whipped out her phone, turning her own glower on Luke. She could tell he was desperately holding back a smile.
"What did I tell you about—"
"Yes, I know, it still scares you when I come out of nowhere, but we all forgot what costumes you guys picked for us and we don't have a phone, so..."
