The roof to my convertible goes down causing wind to hit me along with the shiny, hot sun that is high up in the sky.

I just got home from a birthday vacation yesterday that lasted months.

It was amazing to be alone and in peace for a while without anyone bothering me to get them out of jail or to put someone in prison. My father gifted me it and I love the old man for that.

Today was my last free day for a while until the old man called me. I was on one of my shopping sprees when he called and told me there was an important case that he wanted me to take. I'm now driving home and enjoying my last few minutes of vacation.

Minutes later, the giant gates that lead to Dario Romano's mansion open and I drive in.

As the roof of my car goes up, I take a deep breath and prepare myself for what my father is going to tell me. By the way he was talking to me on the phone I could tell that he knew I was going to be annoyed. I just have a feeling that it involves someone in the stupid mafia. I already want to strangle whoever the idiot is for getting caught or for whatever it was that they did.

I grab my purse from the passenger seat and finally step out, my heels hitting against the pavement. I close the door behind me before I fix my dress, pulling it down a bit and flattening it out.

I then make my way to the huge double doors that are the entrance to my childhood home.

One of the doors is immediately opened before I can do anything. Alice our housekeeper appears behind it with a welcoming smile, and I return a small one.

"Good afternoon, Alice. Can you please ask one of the men to bring my shopping bags from the trunk up to my bedroom?" I ask stepping into the house as I take off my sunglasses.

I immediately feel safe and comfortable being here. It feels like when my mother used to give me her warm bone crushing hugs. I love this place with my whole heart.

"Of course, Ms. Gianna. Welcome home." She tells me before excusing herself.

I look around at the huge living room with high ceilings and I take in the scent of lavender. Mamma's favorite.

My eyes immediately snap up to the huge, beautiful painting on the wall. The beautiful Ginevra Romano looks down at me.

A small smile forms on my face. "I miss you so much, mamma."

I take in another deep breath and mentally prepare myself for the case my father will talk to me about as soon as I step into his office. He is surely in there like always.

I make my way toward his study. The only sound throughout the house being my heels hitting against the shiny, white tiled floors.

I finally reach the tall wooden door that has pretty carvings on it.
