You pull the covers up over your head, shaking slightly as thunder booms outside. You peek out of your cocoon of blankets just as lightning cracks through the sky. Tears stream down your face as you glance over at the clock. It's 11:30. Bro isn't home. You're here alone, and the storm outside doesn't sound like it's going to stop anytime soon. Why does Bro leave so much? You're just a kid. You're terrified. You scream this time as the sound of thunder fills the air. You slip out of bed and into Bro's room, grabbing Cal off his stool. You climb into Bro's bed with Cal, curling around the puppet. You hug him tightly to your chest, inhaling your brother's scent. The presence of Cal combined with being surrounded by your brother's smell calms you down. You drift off, still clutching Cal to your chest.
