It was the day of her first trial, and Jasmine hoped Joshua would be present at the court.

It has been tough on her since the day of her arrest. She will cry to sleep every night.

Jasmine missed Joshua so much and hadn't heard anything from her boyfriend since the day of her arrest.

But she understood Joshua was probably busy in Alscot, looking for evidence that could prove her innocence.

She hoped Joshua would find Maya and questioned her about that day when they went shopping.

Maya Smith.

After her initial suspicion, Jasmine cast away the thought Maya was involved. Jasmine didn't want to believe that Maya had something to do with her situation.

Same as Joshua, Jasmine and Maya had been friends since high school. The three of them were good friends.

Maya was not only her friend, they were the bestest of friends.

Even that was still an understatement, as Maya and she were like sisters that were joined at the hip.

From going to the same high school, Jasmine and Maya attended the same college, taking the same course.

After they graduated from college, Jasmine and Maya applied for the same company. The top company in Alscot, The Swift Corp.

Their sisterly bond was like a magnet as they both were accepted by Swift Corp.

They were thrilled when they found out about it. They went out to celebrate the news by doing the activity that they both love, shopping!

Hey, girls needed new clothes to look amazing on their first day of work.

With how they were so close to each other, it was impossible for Jasmine to think that Maya had set her up.

There must be something that both of them weren't aware of.

Jasmine had tried to recall every step they took that day when they went out shopping.

Someone must have secretly slipped that sex toy into her shopping bag when they weren't looking.

Jasmine felt dumb when she didn't check the content of the shopping bag and just shoved it into her lingerie bag.

In her defence, Maya said it was a surprise that should be opened after Joshua had slipped a ring on her finger.

Everything that Jasmine remembered she had told to her lawyer and asked the lawyer to pass the information to Joshua, so he could check it.

The mall, the shop that they went to, the place they had stopped to take a break, the restaurant they went to eat. Everything she remembered, she had told in detail to the lawyer.

She wasn't allowed to make her own calls. What was more, international calls. Thus, everything she needed to tell Joshua had to go through her lawyer.

On the day of her trial, Jasmine was brought into the court with her hands cuffed.

She was seated next to Mr. Gu, who still represented her.

As Jasmine couldn't call Joshua and he never visited her at the precinct, she couldn't whine to Joshua how Mr. Gu acted indecently towards her.

That day wasn't the only time that her lawyer looked at her with that dirty gaze. It happened every time he came to see her.

There were times Mr. Gu would subtly touch her inappropriately.

Jasmine felt all like a thousand ants crawling on her skin.

She really wanted to scream at the man and pounced on his face a thousand times, however she couldn't.

What would happen to her if Mr. Gu got mad and abandoned her?

Thus, Jasmine endured the disgusting touch of Mr Gu and would only cry her heart out once she was locked back in her cell.

She would take multiple baths and rub the part where Mr Gu was touching her until her skin bleed.

Today, Jasmine was brought from the precinct to the courthouse in a van. Two police officers escorted her. The handsome blue-grey eyed man wasn't one of them.

Walking inside the court, Jasmine looked around, hoping to see Joshua present there to support her.

However, she didn't even see the strand of her boyfriend's hair. 'Where is my darling?'

With a furrowed brow, she turned to her side, "where is Joshua?" she asked the lawyer.

"Mr Jones couldn't come," was Mr Gu's curt reply.

Before Jasmine could ask more questions to the lawyer, the judicial assistant's loud voice was heard calling everyone's attention.

"All rise."

Every person in the courtroom stood up. From the door, three people wearing imposing black robes walked in towards the seats at the front.

An invisible lump stuck in her throat. Jasmine swallowed her saliva to clear her airway.

Jasmine looked at the man beside her and took a deep breath, 'Joshua had chosen him. I trust Joshua.'

Putting her opinion about the lawyer aside, Jasmine put all her trust in the man that she had dated for 10 years.

Thus, Jasmine's trial began.

At the end of her session, Jasmine felt like her whole body was burning in madness.

Her endurance of the lawyer's assault was needless.

That almost bald, fat man was a lousy lawyer!

'Where did Joshua find this man?'

Mr Gu couldn't even utter his words fluently and kept stumbling in his speech.

Although Jasmine wasn't a native speaker of Cratia's language. She thought she could do better than the lawyer.

The man not only couldn't speak properly, he even didn't produce any evidence that could support Jasmine's innocence. Everything that the man said was like he was trying to put Jasmine in prison instead.

Wasn't he her lawyer that was supposed to defend her and not prosecute her?

By the end of the session, the court ordered Jasmine to be sent to prison.

From jail cell to prison cell. Would things get worse for her?

Jasmine tried her best not to cry, knowing that a death penalty was waiting for her.

'This is not the time to break down, Jasmine. Let's contact Joshua and fire this pig,' she said in her mind.

Her emerald eyes were burning with the fire of determination.

She was innocent, and she would prove it.

Jasmine would find the person who slipped the drug in her bag and made her a drug trafficker.

'I have to find ways to prove my innocence quickly. I have to do it quickly before mom and dad find out about this.'

Unlucky for Jasmine, when she was brought out of the courthouse, reporters swarmed to her.

They had caught the news about a citizen of Alscot was caught in Cratia and was faced with mandatory death penalty. The news became big because it involved the relationship of the two countries.

'Crap! Oh no no! NOOO!!!
