Strip off his position

Far away in Alscot,

Scott Paxton, Jasmine's father, stood with respect in front of the Inspector-General of Alscot's Police, in the Inspector-General office.

The Inspector-General was sitting behind his desk, while holding a newspaper. After skimming the newspaper, he threw it on the table.

"It's all over the news, Scott. Everyone is talking about this, and they demand action to be taken," the Inspector-General said.

Scott looked at the front page of the newspaper. It was the news of his daughter's capture in Cratia.

The news first got attention because a citizen of Alscot was caught in Cratia. However, once people digged about Jasmine, they found out that she was the daughter of the Head of the Narcotics division of Alscot police. Thus, the news blew up.

"This is not all, Scott," added the Inspector-General. He picked up the tablet from his table and tapped on it. The screen lit up to show the online version of the news.

The Inspector-General scrolled down to the comments sections and sighed heavily.

He handed the tablet to Scott for the latter to take it. Scott took the tablet from the Inspector-General's hand and had a look at it.

[IloveBTH: An Alscotian caught in Cratia for drug possession and trafficking!]

[PureAngel: A death penalty? Do we get a death penalty for drug possession?]

[Atmosphere: In Alscot, we don't. Just a few years in prison. She was caught in Cratia. They give death penalty for drug trafficking.]

[PureAngel: Whatever! Drugs are evil. She shouldn't do drugs.]

[IloveBTH: @PureAngel Your dumbhead! It doesn't say she takes drugs. She was caught with it.]

[PureAngel: @IloveBTH Don't call me dumbhead! Why would she have drugs if she didn't take it?]

[Atmosphere: To distribute the drug. To get money.]

[VForever: How evil! She didn't take them, but distributed them for money. That's even worse!]

[PureAngel: She should have been caught earlier. Why didn't our police catch her? She tainted the pure name of Alscotian!]

[MSLJJ: Her dad is the HEAD of Narcotics! He must have covered for his daughter.]

[PureAngel: No wonder she has never been caught in Alscot! Served her right to get a death penalty! That's Karma, I say. Her dad should be stripped off of his position! We don't want a drug dealer father to be the head of narcotics. Clearly he couldn't do his job well.]

[IloveBTH: Yeah! Fired her father!]

[MSLJJ: Yeah!]

[VForever: We don't want unreliable and corrupted police!]

That was just part of the comments section. If he scrolled down. It would take him half a day to read every comment that was left under the article.

Scott gritted his teeth. The netizen demanded for him to be stripped off of his position that he had worked hard for years to achieve. It was not only the netizen. The citizens and his fellow policemen in Alscot all demanded the same thing.

A rumour also started among his division, that made his subordinate look at him sceptically. They wondered if he was just putting up a front of being a righteous policeman while in the back; he was secretly conspiring with any drug lord, like how the rumours said.

"Scott, I know you are not like what the rumours said. I have known you for years," said the Inspector-General. "However, my hands are tied. I cannot take this matter lightly. They will say that I'm partial to you and that would just snowball into more disaster. The police force cannot afford that right now," he explained his position to Scott.

Scott put down the tablet on the table, "I understand, General," he said.

"Since you understand. In that case, I hope you don't take it to heart when I say I have to suspend you from your work for the time being. Taking into account your past achievements, that is the best I can do for you," the Inspector-general said.

"I got it, General. Thank you for taking my past work into consideration," said Scott.

With that being said, Scott gave a salute to the Inspector-General and walked out of the room, and headed to his office to pack his belongings.

Murmurs escorted him wherever he went. His fellow policemen had a lot to say about him right now. Scott put his poker face on and ignored the buzzing sounds.

Scott went to his room and packed a few things. He didn't take a lot, just a few things that fit into one box.

"Chief!" A young detective barged in and looked at Scott. Seeing Scott packing up his things, "did the Inspector-General fire you?" he asked in horror.

"Suspended until further notice," replied Scott, "what are you doing here, Evan? Shouldn't you be on the lookout?"

"I switched shifts with Phil," Evan simply replied.

Evan wanted to say more however, he couldn't find comforting words to say to the man that he had come to respect.

"Chief, take the back exit. There are a lot of reporters outside," said Evan.

"It's fine, Evan. They need to see me walk out so they can put their trust in the police again," said Scott, dismissing Evan.

Evan felt pain for his Chief. He didn't know how Scott's daughter was caught with drug trafficking in Cratia. He cursed that girl in his heart.

With that box in his hand, Scott walked out of the front door of the Police Headquarters.

Reporters swarmed him as soon as he walked out of the door. He fought through the crowds and ignored their questions.

What did they want to hear from him? Wasn't his situation right now what was demanded for?

Scott headed towards his car. It was not easy for him to walk through the sea of people. Some people present there came to throw eggs and tomatoes at him while shouting how he didn't know how to raise a daughter.

They even cursed him, saying he was too busy chasing after others that he didn't even realise his own daughter had become one of those people he was so busy chasing.

There was a lot more of what they said that Scott had to take a deaf ear to.

As soon as he got into his car, Scott drove away, leaving the Police headquarters vicinity.
