A/N: happy new year!!

***

On Friday night the party walked out of the school building together.

"Wait, do you all have dates for the dance?"  Dustin asks.

"Yeah, unlike you."  Mike jokes.

"Wow Mike actually got a date."  Jane laughs, followed by everyone else.

"I got a date."  Lucas says while putting his arm around Max.  She rolls her eyes.

"I only agreed because he gave me chocolate."  She laughs.  Lucas pulls his arm away from her.

"Hey!"  He says dramatically, causing everyone to laugh.

"What about you Jane, do you have a date?"  Dustin's asks her.

"My dad won't let me go with anyone."  She says with an eye roll.  Will grins knowingly.

"Dustin do you have a date?"  Lucas asks him as they walk over to the bike rack.

"Yeah I do actually."   He says, causing everyone to gasp dramatically.

"Who?"  Will asks him.

"Suzie from science class.  She says she likes my smile."  Dustin says in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Wow.  Congrats dude."  Mike smiles.

"Do you have a date Will?"  Jane asks him.  His face went a light shade of red.

"Yeah I do."  He says quietly.

"Who?"  Max and Jane both ask with a smirk.

"Me, obviously."  Mike says annoyed.  He's been jealous whenever Will talks to Jane or Max since that day at the arcade.

"I told you!"  Max shoves Lucas.  He groans and pulls five dollars out of his pocket and gives it over.  Then he gave the other five dollars to Jane.  Dustin does the same thing.

"You're all stupid."  Will mutters.

"You're moms here."  Mike tells him.  Will nods.

"See you guys tonight."  He smiles and walks off to his moms car.

He opens the front door and sits next to his mom.

"How was school bud?"  She asks as they pull out of the school parking lot.

"It was great!"  He says with a smile.

They talk about Wills day at school as they drive over to the high school to pick Jonathan up.  As they drove home Joyce began talking.

"So I was thinking we go home, you two can do homework, then we can go out for dinner, then go back home, get Will ready for the dance, then Mike will come over, then I'll drop them off at the school, then Jonathan and I will go do something together.  How does that sound?"  She asks her two boys.  They both agree.

The family goes home, Will goes into his bedroom to work on science and math homework.  Jonathan goes into his room to finish history and English homework.  Joyce sat in the living room reading her favorite book.

About an hour and a half later the two boys were done.  They all piled back into the car and Joyce drove downtown to find a place to eat.

"Fast food or sit down?"  Jonathan asks.

"Sit down."

"Roy Rogers?"  Will suggests.  "Mike told me it was good."  He adds.

"Sure, that sounds fine."  His mom agrees.
