No one's POV
"I loved that", Krissy whispered, slightly turning to Jason who stood beside her. Both smiled and gestured farewells at the attendees who were being guided out of the enclosed restaurant and back into the hotel foyer.
At Krissy's confession Jason smiled knowing that her earlier anxieties about attending such a meeting would fade once she got into the room.
"So it wasn't scary?", he lightly teased as he nodded a goodbye at the last Quill Corporation employee to leave the room.
A smile formed on Krissy's lips as she let out a small scoff and shook her head feeling a little silly at how nervous she was, but to her defence Jason's antics in the last meeting he invited her to, didn't really leave her with much confidence. And even though he had been right in that the meeting wasn't as intimidating as what Krissy had conjured up in her head, he was very wrong in telling her that those she would be spending three hours with were simply, 'people just like her', because they very much weren't.
They were giants. Complete giants in their field. And Krissy just thanked the heavens that she was too in awe of each of them and too blurred by their sciencey businessy talk for her to comprehend how out of her league they were and for imposter syndrome to flood in and cripple her. Resulting in, to her surprise and to Jasons awareness, Krissy not itching once throughout the entire meeting.
Not even when the Senior Director of Google Pixel asked her to pass him the table mints."Oh no it definitely was. But I only understood 50% of what was said which I think in a weird way helped. Like my mind didn't have time to decode all the information and have an anxiety attack all at the same time".
Jason nodded, turning his body to the left so they were no longer standing side by side but rather face to face, allowing him to get a better look at her.
He scanned over her face and indeed saw confirmation that Krissy was fine, and if he was reading her correctly, a little high off the whole thing. Jason was pleased that she enjoyed the meeting but there was a slight unhappiness he felt finding out that Krissy's solace didn't come from his presence but rather her mind being too busy to feel uneased."So, you didn't find it too long or boring?".
"Nope, it was interesting, three hours went by quick".
Jason arched his eyebrow at her comment then pulled a 'fair enough' face.
"You're better than me. I think I died a bit when that software engineer was going on at the end".
Krissy snorted, then nodded in agreement that that part of the meeting was in fact quite painful.
Jason's eyes lit up and he chuckled softly at the sound Krissy just made."... I mean the only reason I didn't actually die was because I was able to zone out and go to my happy place thinking about-".
"What?", Krissy cut him off in her eagerness to know what helped him through it so she too can do it whenever she was trapped in a painfully dry conversation.
Jason's eyes held her eager ones. He then shook his head slightly and scoffed, taking a step closer to her, minimising the space between them, and causing Krissy to now have to tilt her head up to make it comfortable for her to look at him.
He then gave her a knowing smirk, before sarcastically shrugging his shoulders which consequentially answered her question as to what, or rather who his 'happy place' was.
