- Eddie POV -
"Y/N!" I call out as I see the slick black vine around her neck begin to drag her gasping body towards the gate to the Upside Down, I try to run towards her but Harrington grabs my shoulder to stop me. "Eddie! I know you wanna save her, but we need to be smart about this!" Despite his words being completely true, I still can't stop myself from wanting to protect her, I promised her I would always protect her. I watch helplessly as she's pulled into the gate, into that fucking awful place. "Harrington, I have to save her!" I pleaded with tear filled eyes at the gruesome thought of her facing all those horrible things in the Upside Down alone, the things that almost killed us now destined to take her if she doesn't have help. I can't just stand here and let it happen!-Y/N POV -
After being dragged for what felt like miles, the vine releases me and leaves me in the middle of the wood, I cough and splutter as I regain my breath from it's agonising strangulation, my neck now branded with the same ligature markings as that night I dreamt of Peter and that red faced creature. The creature I'm starting to understand was Vecna... the creature that may actually be Peter. Still rendered a gasping mess on the ground, I take in my surroundings, it's the same woods I ran through when I left the facility as a child, the same woods I ran and ran and ran through until I found Alice, except it's darker and colder, everything looks like it's dying and the floor is littered with slick black vines. Note to self: don't touch the fucking vines.I dust myself off as I shakily rise to my feet, my legs trembling under the weight of my own body. I start to carefully wander in the direction I believe to be towards Hawkins, towards home, although I expect it not to be the same as I hoped it would be. I tread carefully as my feet squelch through the dirty, dampened ground, taking extra care as not to step on the vines below me, I've clearly already pissed off whatever's down here, I'm not about to make it worse. As I walk, I'm blinded by the flashes of red lightening crashing across the sky, illuminating the eerie woodlands around me, the screeching sounds of something terrifying echoing through the distance. I finally come to the edge of the clearing and pause in the shelter of the tree line, I see the reddened sky swarming with bat like creatures, screeching as they fill the sky above, in the distance I can see the tall, gangly shape of a human, but the head looks like a flower... with a fuck load of teeth. I feel my heart pounding in my chest as my stomach knots with a strangulating nausea as the sight of these creatures, creatures that will surely kill me if they find me.
I stare around the broken down, desolate wasteland that vaguely resembles Hawkins, unable to believe that this is my home, this is the town I found safety and sanctuary in. Then I spot it, the road that I know leads to the trailer park, only a mile or so away from where I'm standing, the only issue being getting there without being spotted and captured by this Vecna thing, or worse... killed. Pulling the hood of my sweatshirt over my head, I begin to stomp my converse into the tarmac beneath me as I make quick haste up the road toward what I'm silently praying is safety. Thankfully just about every streetlight is out, leaving the road blackened and with any luck, keeping me invisible to whatever's overhead thanks to my popular choice of black clothing.
Finally making it to the familiar gates of the trailer park, I see my trailer ahead... but it doesn't look the same. It's not broken or damaged, it's perfect intact, with the exception of the vines trailing over the front of it and the foul blackened colour of mould and dirt coating the sides, it looks immaculate. I look over to Eddie's trailer, the walls boarded with metal sheeting and chain link fencing just liked he'd described, left over from his time fighting the Demobats down here with Henderson and the others. I quicken my steps as I practically run towards it, praying this world doesn't believe in locking doors and it'll be open for me to walk right in. Thankfully, the doors unlocked and I step into the darkness of the trailer, my senses flooded with the scent of mildew and soil radiating from every surface. It was gross and cold, but it was home and it was safe, safer than being outside at least.
