I had finally finished trying out for all of the jobs. I skipped bagger, because I automatically knew I didn't want to do it, and the rest of the boys had advised me to just not try it out.

I attempted being a builder, but I had almost sliced my finger off, so I gave up with that one. Being a trackhoe wasn't the worst job, but working all day in the scorching sun just wasn't it for me. I wanted to try being a runner, but Alby had said it was off limits, and Gally had scolded me for even thinking I would be a runner, because I had only been in the Glade for about 2 days. Finally, I attempted Med-jack, and it was actually something I enjoyed, It wasn't a super hard job, but it was fun. I got the chance to talk to more of the boys one-on-one, and they actually seemed to like me. I worked with Clint, who was the keeper of the Med-jacks and Jeff.

As I sat down for dinner with the Newt and Minho, they bombarded me with questions.

"So shebean, which job you choosing?" Minho asked me with a mouthful of food.

"I think I'm gonna be a Med-jack" I replied with a smile.

"I thought you liked working in the gardens with me" Newt said.

"I do, but it's so hot out there" I whined.

We all continued eating and talking before getting ready for bed. The night was quiet, sometimes a sound of gears changing alerted my ears, but I had learned they were just the maze changing. Soon, everything drifted away as I let sleep take over.

"Aris, they're gonna put us in the mazes sooner or later" I said to the boy.

"Do you think they'll put us together?" He asked, shining his bright blue eyes.

"They put all the girls in maze B, and they put all the guys in maze A, they most definitely won't make an exception." I replied.

A song played silently in the background. Lyrics talking about giving enough and what seemed heartbreak?

A lady in a white suit appeared in the dining hall, her blonde hair put in a tight bun at the top of her head.

I ignored her, hoping that she was going to take a different kid in the dining hall, but her eyes landed on me and Aris.

"Aris Jones, please come here" She said above the conversations.

It all went silent. Everyone knew what was going to happen.

"No!" I yelled. She gave me a stern look.

"Y/N L/n, make your way over too" She gave me a menacing look, but I obeyed.

Me and Aris had promised to leave together if one of us were leaving for the trials.

"Take her to A room" She said to the two guards that had my arms behind me.

"Take him to the B room" The lady said as she pointed at the boy with brown hair,

"What no, thats the wrong rooms!" I said as the guards pulled me and Aris away from each other.

"No, Y/N, wait please!" Aris said, desperately trying to get out of the grasps of the guards.

"Please let us say goodbye." I pleaded to the woman, as a single tear rolled down my cheek. She had a blank expression on her face as she watched us be pulled apart.

"I love you, Aris" I said to the boy, before being fully dragged out the room.

I woke up quickly, a cold morning breeze whooshed past me as I sat up. A boy had been shaking me awake from the dream.

"Hey, hey, you okay?" The boy asked me. I quickly realized it was Newt as I heard his british accent.

"Yeah, yeah, it was just a dream." I replied, still catching my breath.

It all just happened so quickly, everything in the dream just felt so real. Like they were actual people?

"Well, I'm here to listen if you want to tell me." Newt said with a small smile. I nodded silently, trying to figure out my words.

"I was in a dinning hall of some sort. I was sitting with a boy who I guess was named Aris. He had bright blue eyes and brown hair that swooshed to the side. I guess me and him were in love. There was something about there being another maze too" I said to Newt.

He nodded slowly, probably trying to regain words for everything I was telling him.

The day went by fairly quickly, but the boy haunted my memories non stop. Who was he? I ignored it as much as I could, but it was a quiet day as a Med-jack, so not enough kept me from my thoughts that might as well had consumed me.

"I need a Med-jack!" I heard from the door of the shack.

I turned behind me to see a boy with blond hair.

"Why hello there Newt" I said with a smile as he walked in. "What can I help ya with?" I asked.

"Hm, well, I got a cut on my arm from a thorn" He said to me, holding out his arm for me to see.

"Newt! It isn't even a big cut!" I laughed.

"Ugh fine, but come with me to get lunch!" He said, taking my arm. The sudden touch made my heart run a little, but it wasn't anything. If any guy here touched me, my heart would race a little, so it wasn't just Newt's touch. Right?

A/N ngl i was stumped. i had no idea what to write.
