My nails tapped across my desk. It had almost been a week since we had met in the alley, but I was unable to get Hawks' declaration out of my head.
"If you don't knock that off I'm going to break your fingers." Bakugo's flat threat came from behind me.
"I would actually love to see you try." I murmured from my seat as a grin formed on my lips. I carelessly held up my hand, not currently doing the tapping, and lit my fingers with a purple glow. My threat was as fake as they come since I can hardly use my power on anyone, let alone Bakugo, but our bickering was a fun and familiar part of our day.
"WOULD YOU TWO SHUT IT."
At least it was fun for us.
I tuned out Bakugo's screaming at yet another classmate, as I watched each of my classmates trickle into the room from lunch before our afternoon classes started. The fondness I had grown for most of my classmates was terrifying.
Surprisingly- Aizawa walked into the room.
"Hey! Where's Midnight?" Mineta cried from the back of the room.
How can he even see back there?
Aizawa cleared his throat as his eyes bore into the perverted grape boy.
"Class. I am here to talk about your next out-of-school training opportunity." Gasps could be heard throughout the room. "I know many of you may have concerns after the events of our last training experience, but I assure you we are not just jumping into this unprepared."
My heart sunk to the floor.
Here we fucking go again.
Eraserhead spared no details in explaining this training. We would be going to a desolate forest in which we would train ourselves physically and mentally in only four days. Apparently we would be training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats... And I thought Bakugo's hero name was bad.
There was no doubt in my mind this was the event Shigaraki had mentioned. Was Hawks their inside source that leaked this? If so, why was he helping me? Nothing about this situation felt right to me. As the day went on, I rubbed at the ring on my finger until my skin felt raw.
As soon as the final bell rang for the day, I grabbed my bag and began walking towards the door. I didn't wait for Bakugo today and I didn't meet the smiling faces of my peers around me or Aizawa's grumbly goodbye. I couldn't look them in the eye until knowing they were safe. Even if it lead to myself getting harmed in the end, I knew what I needed to do.
As I busted ass through the crowded halls, I created my plan. I intended to message Shigaraki letting him know I had information on the camp. I would tell him all of the details to avoid suspicion, but set the date of the training camp a week back. When it came time to actually go to the camp, I will act as if all students were surprised by the sudden date. Maybe I can say all students were unaware about the date to teach us to be prepared for anything or some other hero-sounding bullshit like that. And if that didn't work.. It didn't matter. I needed to do this. I need to do something this time.
The crisp air hitting my face zoned me back into reality. I stopped my quick pace for only a moment to fish for my burner phone in my bag. Just as my finger grazed the cold metal, something warm gripped my wrist. I looked up, meeting the angrier-than-normal crimson hued glare.
"Ah shit, Bakugo. I totally forgot to wai-"
"Is your mom home?" He abruptness cut me off.
"W-What?"
Physical steam seemed to manifest from his nostrils.
"Are you fucking deaf? I asked if your mom was home tonight."
I should've lied to Bakugo so I could meet with Shigaraki, but my lips deceived me.
"N-No."
"Great."
That was the most not actually great sounding 'great' I've ever heard.
His grip tightened on my wrist as he began to drag me behind him.
"What the hell?"
I tried to pry his hand from me, but his grip only tightened, biting into my skin. As we approached the road, he turned the opposite way from our path to my house and continued stalking, my arm in tow.
"At least tell me where the hell were going."
I waited for a moment, but still nothing.
A smirk grew on my lips. "If you wanted to hold my hand that badly, you could've just asked."
......
I really thought that one would work.
Now I was just getting pissed off. My anxiety from today and what I needed to do was still brimming at my edge of sanity, and this was not helping. I initiated the final attempt for escape or at least an explanation.
My ass slammed off the concrete way harder than expected as I quickly dropped my weight towards the ground. My tug of resistance caused Bakugo to stumble backwards, almost landing on top of me.
"What the HELL, Yui?"
Bakugo angrily mumbled at me from his new spot on the ground next to me. My now free wrist felt suddenly cold from the lack of his heat. I couldn't help but laugh horrendously loud as I rubbed the sore spots coming to surface on my wrist.
His once angry and scrunched face softened a little as he intently watched me. My body burned under his gaze and my stomach began to knot itself over and over. Quickly, I averted my attention to the grass on the ground beside me.
"Can I please know where you are taking me to presumably kill me now?"
A smirk crossed Bakugo's lips at my question, but quickly disappeared as he answered.
"...My house."
Now both of us were awkwardly staring at the ground.
"Your house?"
The blonde let a sigh escape from his mouth as he stood off the ground.
"Yes, my house. I'm not going to let you eat another shitty microwave meal alone again tonight."
