It was now 5:30 and calum an I have been talking for the last 45 minutes, about everything and anything. "I better get going now" I said standing up, sitting off of calums lap. "you don't want to stay for dinner?" he asked, "I should go back to my mum, I haven't been home lately." I said helping calum up. "oh okay" he whispered kissing me softly. "how long will it take to walk do you think?" he asked smiling, "I don't know, half an hour?" I said. "let's walk" he said holing out his hand, I smiled taking it.

We had been walking for about 5 minutes not really saying anything, but it was nice, calums hand never left mine, not once. "I'm really going to miss you" he says kisses my hair, "im going to miss you too, " I whispered kissing his cheek. "Am I going to be able to see you play before you leave?" I ask smiling. " we've got band practice after school on wednesday... Do you think you can cope with those 3 idiots for a bit longer?" he laughs, "I think I can cope" I laugh back.

We contined walking back to mine, talking about calums family, until he bought up the subject of my family. "so where is your dad?" he asked, "you never really talk about him, you hardly ever talk about you family" he whispers, looking down at his feet. It took a while, but I figured he was going to find out sooner or later do I may as well tell him now. I took a deep breath before telling him "when I was 10 my parents got divorced, I stayed 2 weeks with my mum and 2 weeks with my dad, my older sister stayed just with my mum, while, Ben, my brother, stayed with my dad and mum like I did. After about a year, my dad... He... He changed." I stopped walking, remembering all of the hurtful memories. "I'm sorry Jess, I didn't think it would be anything like this, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," he took a strand of my hair and tucked it behind my ear, I shook my head, "no, no I want you to know" I told him, calum nodded his head, squeezing my hand tightly. "he... He came home drunk, he didn't do anything when he was drunk, he would just ignore Ben and I. But when he wasn't drunk, that... That was when I got scared" a tears started to fall, calum wipping them away. "it scared me so much, he scared me. He would yell, and hit things, punch walls." "did he ever..?" calum started to ask, his voice shaking, "there would be moments yes, but the worse would be one night when ben was away at a school camp and my dad was really really pissed off, he... He pushed me up against the wall, he slapped me across the face and shoved me against the wall again, punched me in the gut and then yelled at me and walked back outside, back to his girlfriends house." I couldn't stop crying now. Calum pulled me into the tightest hug, finally there was a place where I felt safe, in calums arms. "but 2 years ago..." I started talking again pushing myself away from calum, "2 years ago there was a car crash" I took a deep breath. "he was in it" I bursted into tears again hugging calum tight. "oh Jess" calum whispered "you are never EVER going to be treated like that again. You are so much more than that, you are so amazing, so perfect." he cried a bit aswell. "dont leave me tonight" I hugged him tighter, "I'm never going to leave you" he whispered hugging me back.

Once we finally got to mine i walked into the kitchen, I still couldn't smile. "hey Jess" my mum said while making dinner, "hi mum" i whispered. "oh yeah.. Um... This is calum," I said a smile slowly creeping onto my face, "hi Ms.Moor" calum held out his hand, "hi calum it nice to meet you," "please the pleasure is all mine" calum smiled. "what's for dinner?" i asked, "oh just some pasta, are you staying for dinner calum?" my mum asked him, he looked at me "yeah he is" I said. "come on let's go up to my room" I said taking his hand "dinner will be ready in 20 minutes! And leave the door open!" my mum yelled while we were waking away. We got into my room and layed down on my bed, we just layed there calum holding me while tears slowly went down my cheek. He grabbed my ipod and went though my songs. He clicked on fall for you by Secondhand Serenade and plugged it into my speakers. "dance with me" he said. I got up and walked over to calum, he grabbed my hand softly and pulled me close, his hand went around my waist and my arm went up to his shoulder. We swayed back and forth throughout the song, even when the song was over and random songs were playing. calum slowly let go of my hand and put both of his hands around my waist, so I put my another arm around his shoulder, my forehead softly reasting on his chest, I was really short compared to him.

"DINNER!" my mum yelled, it only felt like calum and I had been dancing for a few minutes. He softly kissed my forehead, took my hand and whispered "let's go."

We walked down stairs to see mum and Sarah already at the table. "Who's this?" my sister asked, cheeky smiling. "this is calum" I said smiling at him. "hi calum, I'm Sarah, Jess's sister." she said shaking his hand, "nice to meet you" calum said smiling, "same with you" she said. We sat around the table eating dinner, calum getting to know my family, and my family getting to know calum. "okay give me your plates I'll clean up" sarah said standing up, once we finished our dinner "I'll help" calum said collecting my mums, mine and his plate.

After Sarah and calum left my mum looked at me. "what's up?" I asked smiling at her, "is he your boyfriend now?" she asked smiling, I just blushes and looked away nodding my head. "and he's staying tonight" I whispered, knowing my mum won't be happy about it. "no he is not" she whispered loudly. "mum please, I had to attacks today and he was there to calm me down, please I need him right now." I begged her. "fine, but bedroom door open when he is in there, and he's sleeping in the spare room" she told me, "he already knows that, I told him that before" I said. "as long as he understands the rules" I mum said, "he does don't worry" I laughed. "also Jess, there is something that I need to tell you." I turned my head to her, looking right at her, when she opened her mouth I froze, "your father is back".
