In your first week away from society life had never felt more strange. You weren't exactly a social butterfly, but not having any interaction with the outside world would slowly drive you to insanity.

To make things worse Rosaria seemed distant, more so than usual. Most mornings you would wake up alone either finding Rosaria staring blankly at a wall, or not even in the house.

She would leave early and get home late, you tried to brush it off as her work, but you knew that couldn't be the only thing. Even when you did see her she was never in the mood to talk, or couldn't stay long. Something was going on, more than just the vampires.

Opening your eyes to the dark room you checked the time on your phone, 4:56. You tossed and turned for a few minutes before it became obvious you weren't going to fall back asleep. By now the sun was about to rise, you dragged yourself out of bed, wandering the cabin you assumed to be empty. Walking into the lounge room you jumped slightly at Rosarias presence.

"Morning", she greeted, keeping the interaction short.

"Morning... I didn't think you'd be here still" you replied joining her in the kitchen.

"I do live here", she replied.

"Well it sure as hell doesn't seem like that lately", you grumbled under your breath.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Come on Rosaria. You're never around. I can understand there's a lot going on right now but you won't talk to me.", You snapped feeling all the pent up frustration rise in your chest.

"You don't understand Y/N", she replied her tone growing darker.

"I understand enough to see that you're hurting and you're scared. I'm scared too Rosaria, for you, for everyone!", You were now shouting at her, it was as if she was snapped out of a trance, the one she'd been stuck in for ages.

"You still don't get it Y/N! At any moment they could get here, kill you and then what?! You don't understand... How, fragile you are in this situation", the last part was nearly silent her voice lined with worry.

"This past week all I've been able to think about is how to keep you safe and everything leads back to the one thing I don't want to do!", She continued her voice jumping back to its heightened stressed level.

"And just what is that Rosaria?!"

"I don't want to take away your life", after hearing those words a deafening silence fell between the two of you.

"... Even if you were like me, you still wouldn't be safe", it pained her just to say it, you could hear it in her voice, see it on her face.

You weren't sure how to reply. You weren't completely opposed to the idea of being a vampire. Yet it meant you'd have to leave everything behind, you couldn't be a doctor, not for a long time anyway. You'd have to drop out of school. Leave friends and family watch them die in the end.

"Now do you understand Y/N?", Her words stung as she left you once more. Leaving the dull house in silence.

You waited

And waited...

And waited some more...

But Rosaria didn't return, the minutes bled into hours until it was dark. Yet she still hadn't returned.
During her absence you caught up on your work, reassured your friends that you were ok and thought long and hard about your life, if you were ready to give it up, what it would mean if you weren't, or what would happen.

You weren't ready to give up on Rosaria, on your life with her. If she walked in that door and proposed you wouldn't say no, you'd fallen deeply in love with her. To the point that being like this hurt.
In the end you knew what had to happen if you were to stay with Rosaria. If you couldn't do it, then she would disappear.

Still sitting on the couch waiting for her return, you felt your eyes growing heavy with every blink, you fought to keep them open, just so you could talk to her before she left again. The sky outside was dark and had been for a long time, the moon and stars lit up the sky.

You couldn't fall asleep. Not yet...

You jolted awake once more, only to find yourself no longer on the couch, but in your bed. A cool hand ran through your hair in a calming manner.

"Go back to sleep", she spoke softly pulling the blanket back over your body.
You relaxed into her touch laying back on the mattress wrapping an arm around her torso.

"I waited for you", you mumbled still half asleep.

"I know, I'm sorry I've been so distant with you", she continued her hand still running through your hair.

"Rosaria?", You mumbled earning a hum in response.

"Promise me you won't disappear", you continued. Looking up at the woman you loved, you saw a brief look of confusion and worry flash across her face before a reassuring smile.

"I promise Y/N", after hearing those words you found it a lot easier to relax, your mind felt more at ease. You sat up once more before pulling Rosaria into a hug, feeling her arms wrap around you in return you let out a small sigh of relief. Feeling her loving embrace once more.

"I want to be with you Rosaria, forever. I've decided. Life with you, is all I've ever wanted", you continued not tearing away from the hug.

"That's what you want?"

"I know what has to happen for our forever and I know that's what I want", this time Rosaria pulled you away now looking at you lovingly.

"You know what happens if you take this path Y/N, your friends, you-"

"I know... But I also know that you're the best thing thats ever happened to me", you continued before kissing her cool lips. Returning the gesture she kissed you back, before pulling away placing kisses on your neck.

"That's what you want?", She continued not pulling away to look at you.
"You're all I've ever wanted"
Your body tensed and you closed your eyes as you prepared yourself for a bite on your neck but you were only met by another kiss.

"We have forever Y/N. Take your time deciding what you want", she added before pulling away and sitting you back onto the bed beside her.

"Now get some sleep", she added before kissing your forehead.

You wanted to argue, you wanted to tell her how you felt, that you were ready, but in the end tiredness won.
