JIMIN POV

It had been one hell of a year.

My life had changed from a mere existence to one so enriched, there were times I couldn't believe my good fortune.

A certain dark-haired dancer
had something to do with that, his hard work and efforts culminating on this very night
as he prepared to go on stage
for the school's last and most important performance of
the year.

I took a deep breath.

The anxiety I felt threatened
to get the better of me when I scanned the huge expanse of Academy's packed main theater.

Big hit Academy.

Mom had explained that the our family name was associated with the school because she'd always planned to leave its care in my capable hands as a way of making up for everything I'd lost.

My father's involvement in the school's establishment had
been purely financial.

When learning it was to be mine, he'd signed it over to Mom with out argument but his so-called act of kindness was more about her threat to seek legal advice for what he'd done than
anything else.

Frustrated by his lack of remorse, Mom had decided to
do whatever it took to make
him see the error of his ways.

While being interviewed by the local news about her advocacy for the prevention of domestic violence, she brought down my father's carefully crafted façade in the most public way possible when citing personal experience as her reason for getting behind such a worthy cause.

Though I had a long road ahead as far as my recovery was concerned, the way she stood
up to that asshole made me
see how important it was to move on with my life in a positive, meaningful way.

I was part of a thriving business and had my finger in the pie of a few other hobbies and interests, all of which kept me so busy I wondered how I'd had time
to sleep.

Then there was my family and close group of friends who comprised my support system, and I trusted and relied on
them to keep me grounded.

Most important of all, I had a boyfriend by the name of Jeon Jungkook, a man who in a short space of time, had become
my entire world.

A man who had given me so many gifts I still found myself
in a constant state of shock.

Ah, yes, I was truly, truly blessed.

Jungkook and I were on the verge of launching our own production company.

With the support of some influential acquaintances, rehearsals were to begin in
the ensuing months for a play based on his experiences.

Not only was he going to be
the star of the show but also
the choreographer.

Between that and the promise he'd made to help the older kids from Youth Center participate
in the next Pride March, I
sensed his time at would
be greatly diminished.

He'd argued time and again that there was no way he wasn't graduating and with how committed he was to anything he did, I had no doubt he was right.

Either way, he would be doing the one thing he loved most,
the raw and natural talent he possessed coming along in leaps and bounds since he'd started school.

"Are you all right, Jimin?"

A soft hand squeezed my arm, preventing me from running my fingers through my hair.

"Hanging in there."

"You?" I smiled at the woman sitting to my left.

Yuri as she preferred to be called, had made a profession out of fussing over her youngest child even from the other side
of the country.
