Viridian looked at all the shocked faces around her. "What? What's wrong? Is it bad? Am I dying? Oh just tell me!" she screamed.
"Viridian, love, try not to panic. You're on fire." Ian had his hands outstretched towards her. "If you wait just a second we're going to put you out."
"What do you mean put me out? How can I be on fire?" Viridian looked down at her own hands engulfed in flame and gasped. She twirled trying to look at every inch of her body on fire. "How can I be on fire?"
"I don't know. Are you not in pain?"
"No." Viridian answered still shocked, "I don't feel anything. Just out of breath."
"Ok well we still have to put you out."
"I got it!" Oliver came running from the kitchen with a giant bucket of water.
"No! No! Don't!" Viridian screamed but she was too late. Oliver dumped the entire gallon of water onto her and doused her flames as well as her. Viridian stood there shivering and soaking wet but no longer on fire.
"What the hell Ollie?" She screamed stomping her foot.
"You were on fire." He laughed, "I did what I had to do." He shrugged and gave her a thumb's up.
"Viridian love are you ok?" Ian finally came towards her and put his hands on her shoulders.
"Yea I'm fine. Just soaking wet." She laughed, "And tired. I' really tired." Viridian clutched her head and fainted.
"Whoa." Ian caught her and tried to ease her to the ground.
"I think she's found her power," Evangeline was sitting on the steps with a bright smile on her face.
"You knew about this?" Ian called to her.
"Well I thought it was a possibility but it wasn't clear. I can't see viridian too clearly when I try to look unless she's with somebody else. When she's by herself it's like she's all fuzzy." Evangeline explained.
"If that's the case then you better get her to bed. She's going to be dead tired for awhile." Sophia climbed off the steps and helped Ian pick her up off the floor.
They carried her into her room and set her down on the bed. Ian bent down and kissed her on the cheek. He stroked her hair behind her ears and made sure she was comfortable. "Do you think she'll be ok?"
"Oh yea, she'll be fine. Do you remember the first time that you used your power?"
Ian smiled at the memory, "Yea I was out for days."
"The first time is always the hardest. It uses all the available strength you have. Once she has some rest she'll be fine." Sophia smiled and left.
"Sleep tight Viridian." Ian took one last glance before shutting her bedroom door.
"So what's it look like?" Sophia asked Ian as they made their way back to his office.
"I don't know. Rivka was the only one who got a good look at it." Ian held the door open for Sophia and the found the rest of the group sitting in his office sitting for him.
"How's Viridian?" Oliver was sitting on the couch with Evangeline wrapped in his arms.
"She's sleeping."
