A few hours have passed since Jovian went to save Romina. There hasn’t been anything set to stone yet on how they were going to break in and save both Romina and Jovian. Annika and Elowyn started to fight about all the different plans and how they could all go wrong.
“We can’t do that, do you want all of us to almost get hanged again?” Elowyn shouted at Annika.
“I don’t know!” Annika said
“Then don't rush into something!” Elowyn said
“Fine, I am going on a walk, I'm going to scout the village. You stay here and get weapons ready for when we are ready.” Annika said, walking outside the magic barrier.
Back at the castle Jovian was still in shock and tears after what she just witnessed with Romina. Until she heard a knock at the door and someone walked in. It was quiet for a bit with the person just out of her vision.
“Who is there?” Jovian said making her voice more stirn
“It’s Khloris…”
“What do you want, do you think I can handle you right now?”
“I brought you food though.” Khloris said, walking towards Jovian.
“I don’t want food! I want to be released! I want Romina!”
“ I can’t do that.” Khloris said quietly sitting down in front of Jovian.
“ Do you know what love is?” Jovian questioned.
“Yes I do.” Khloris said, looking at the ground.
“ I don’t think you do.” Jovian said
“Why just because I work for the king and queen?”
“ Well I guess that is one reason, yes. The other maybe being you turned on the one person that cared about you to impress her father. While also in the process getting her locked up and tortured maybe. Soooo you can see why I don’t believe you.”
After that it was quiet and Khloris dropped her head down again lower in disappointment. Jovian could see that maybe she took it a bit far and maybe should apologize. She knew what it was like to lose people that she cared about way too many times to count.
“Look, Khloris, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to take it that far…” Before Jovian could finish she got caught off.
“No, it’s fine. Your right, I deserve that. I did care about Romina and maybe even loved her at some point. Now I am just glad she found someone better, you. I have someone else for me but don’t even know if they're alive or likes me. I use to know them when me and Romina were little but she doesn’t even remember that. We would hang out in the woods and stuff, she made me feel less alone.” Khloris said with her head still down looking at Jovian sometimes but then turning her gaze back down fast. Jovian thought about it for a few minutes and a light bulb went off in her head.
“You like Annika don’t you? Also wait you knew her?” Jovian asks with a smirk now and Khloris eyes shoot up to her like darts and she gets as red as a bullseye.
“Shut up! I’m going to scout the woods!” Khloris said putting the gag back on Jovian and walking out before anything else could have been said.
Khloris couldn’t believe that she told so much to Jovian or that she is getting soft in a way. She resented the idea but also was starting to like the new person she is becoming. After she left she went up to her room to get her arrow and dagger to head into the woods. She said she is going scouting but there is another reason she wants to go to.
Making her way into the woods she didn't get too far until an arrow started coming right at her face, barely giving her time to jump away. Then before she could even process what happened a girl was running at her full speed and tackled her on the ground. The person had a black hood on so Khloris didn't know who it was but had a good idea as she pulled off her hood.
“Dude what the hell!” Khloris said to the figure
“It’s you? Why are you out here?” The figure said standing up and going to the light where Khloris could see that her prediction was right.
“Annika? I can ask you the same question.” Khloris says standing up and crossing her arms.
“Hmmm I don’t know, maybe it’s because both of my friends are hostage in your stupid village.” Annika responded in a sarcastic tone.
“Maybe I can help?” Khloris said.
“I think you have done enough,” Annika said turning and walking away and losing her foot placement, falling down a cliff.
“Annika! You okay?” Khloris said running Towards the cliff where she fell but didn’t get a response.
Khloris then slides down the cliff side and saw that Annika was uncautious on the ground surrounded by ogres with daggers. They picked her up bounding her hands and feet together and a gag before the biggest one picked her up over his shoulder putting her against a log they were carrying and bounded her to that. After that, a few of the others lifted up one end of the log with Annika hanging off the side of it. Khloris knew she had to help but at that time didn't know how.
“We got food today boys!” The biggest ogre said hearing all the others cheer in excitement waking Annika out of her gaze only to make her start freaking out and struggling with her ropes.
“She is a feisty one sir!” one of the smaller ones said.
“Means the meet will be very good!” The big one responded making Annika try to kick him.
Khloris started to make her way down to try to help but when she was going she stepped on a twig making a loud snap sound. This made the men turn around and look in the distance with a smirk and a laugh. Looking back down at Annika as well.
“Looks like you gotta friend! I think we should invite her for dinner too, what do you think boys?” The big ogre said.
“Yeah!” The men shouted and ran out into the woods making Khloris jump and hide in a hole where they couldn't find her.
She didn’t know how long she was in there but after she got out of her hole and went back to where Annika was, she was gone.
