[Regular POV]
Marcus helped roll Sean outside. It was a bit awkward for him because he still felt like this was his fault. Sean seemed too happy for Marcus. He could've lost his life.
Sean looked up at Marcus. He was looking around, like he felt bad. Sean knew when Marcus was upset.“What's up with you?”
Marcus looked at him. “Nothing man, it's just– rich boy stuff.” he lied.
Sean sighed. “Nigga I can tell when yo' ass lying. What's really wrong?” Sean and Marcus knew each other so well that they could tell when the other was going through something or lying, which added to their friendship.
“Man…” he stopped pushing the wheelchair, “I feel like this is all my fault.”
Sean stared at him in confusion. “How could this be you're fault? Well unless yo' ass ordered a hit on me.” he laughed.
Marcus continued pushing him. He shook his head. “I knew that Mark tryna' get me. I should've known–”
“Cut that shit out. I ain't bout to have yo' ass running around here feeling guilty. You ain't have no control over what happened. Now as my friend I want you to drop this ‘it's my fault’ shit.” Sean looked at him in his eyes.
Marcus sighed. “Okay.”
“Coo'. Aye so you wanna run down to the court–” Sean shook his head and chuckled, “Fuck I forgot already.”
“It ain't like your ass could play anyways.”
They looked over. Candy was walking over after a long conversation with Sean's mom. As she came closer Marcus patted his shoulder, “Imma let y'all have y'all moment.”
“Thanks bro.” Marcus walked away. Sean looked at him one more time and shouted to get his attention. “Aye yo, get you some sleep. You look like a fuckin' zombie.”
Marcus stopped and turned around. “Alright.”
Candy and Sean sat together as they watched him pull off in his car. Candy grabbed the papers she had in her hand and started hitting Sean with a smile on her face. He yelled in shock. “Ow! What the hell is that for?”
“I told you to not get shot!” she joked.
“Crazy ass… I couldn't control that.” he chuckled back to her.
She turned her head away, in a snobby way. Sean knew she was just kidding– she was a very playful girl. “I think we need to breakup.”
“Dang I didn't know I got shot in the heart too. ” he laughed. Candy leaned in and they started kissing. She rested her hand on his thigh. He jumped in pain and slapped her hand off of him. “Sorry, it just – I'm still hurting.”
“Its okay. Pain demands to be felt.” Candy smiled.
“Woah where did you get all smart?” Sean joked.
“Boy I heard that in the Fault Of Our Stars. But are you really okay?” Candy stood up and started pushing him around the hospital lot. It had a nice trail so they could have some alone time.
“Nah. I barely remember what happened. One second I was trying on some shoes, the next I felt my body shaking. Then I woke up in the hospital with all these tubes in me.”
Candy pushed the wheelchair next to a bench and sat down with Sean. She looked down at the ground, not knowing what to say. “It must be hard. I can't imagine going through something like that.”
“It don't even seem real. But I think I'm okay.”
“Okay but if you need to talk, I'm here.” Candy smiled and kissed him on the cheek. She stood up and started pushing his wheelchair again.
