"Well," Thea mumbled, as she adjusted how the lace robe was covering her shoulders. "You are my submissive, are you not? Why wouldn't I want you to be there?"
Thea had just informed Aspen there was a munch happening at Aphrodite on New Year's Day.
"It's not that I think you wouldn't want me there," Aspen said hastily and folded himself into a cross-legged position at the end of his bed before he went back to folding the laundry that Thea had gotten from the machine earlier. "It's just that I am a public servant, and what if my clients-?"
Thea turned. "Aspen," she said sharply. "If you don't want to be there, you can just say that."
"But-"
"No buts. Butts are for spanking. I only informed you this Munch would be happening, which means that unfortunately our playtime will be cut short on the weekend, and though I admit that was slightly ignorant of me, I thought maybe you'd like to be there and connect with other people. Once you start working for Alan, you will be seen by people in the community, anyway. This is an offer, and it stands. Of course, I understand if you decide you'd rather not attend for whatever reason. I'm here to educate you, not force you into anything."
Thea exhaled sharply and then squared her shoulders. "How do I look?"
"Magnificent as always, Ma'am," Aspen said, smiling up at her. "This color goes so well with your hair."
Thea harrumpfed at that. "You think? A shame I'm going to bleach it."
"Oh," Aspen made, and Thea gave him a Chesire-cat-grin. "But thank you for the compliment," she added and reached out, snatching up a T-Shirt Aspen had just folded. "Hurry up so we can drive to the club."
Aspen was scrolling through the messages on his phone, trying to keep up while Spencer was reacting to another spicy novella. Spencer inhaled those like a plate of freshly made cookies. His thumb hovered over the play button for a voice message Spencer had sent while Aspen had been busy with the laundry, and he glanced over at Thea before he gave in and played it. "I am going to combust," Spencer was huffing into the phone, and then he quoted the literary masterwork that currently held his attention.
"Is he reading Star Wars fanfiction?" Thea asked, raking her hand through her still-green locks.
"Hmh. Gingerrose," Aspen explained, after having skimmed through previous messages, and Thea laughed.
"Tell him I want the link," she ordered before she pulled into the parking lot. "But get out first, I don't have all night."
And so Aspen spent his night kneeling on a pillow next to Thea's desk. Occasionally, he was allowed to stand and get drinks for the both of them, or, as long as Thea's employees didn't have any clients themselves, venture out into the other rooms at the establishment - and if that was only because Thea was too busy to chase down documents herself.
"You can lay down if you want to," Thea said, looking down at him with a warm smile as he returned with another stack of papers. "You must be tired."
"I'm fine, Mistress."
"Alright," Thea breathed and put the paper she was holding down, her other hand rubbing lazy circles into his scalp.
"It's really a shame you decided to cut your hair - again. I liked it long," she said, tugging softly at the bit of hair between her fingers.
Aspen sucked in a breath. "Alan teases me about it. That's why I don't let it grow."
"A shame," Thea repeated, and then she sighed. "You sitting there like that makes me wish I could play with you."
"I wish you would, too," Aspen admitted, and the smile on Thea's face widened.
"Always so eager to please, are you?"
"Yes," Aspen mumbled, blushing. "I like being played with."
"No doubt," Thea chuckled.
Her phone ringing interrupted the comfortable atmosphere in the room and she picked it up, accepting the call.
"Hi, Leo," she said, and then she pressed the speaker button before putting the phone back on the table.
"Thea," a deep male voice rumbled from the phone. "How are you?"
"Good, good," Thea said, and her smile was evident in her voice. "How are things in L. A.?"
"They're going well."
It was funny how a couple of weeks ago, Aspen had only known Leo as Alan's former boyfriend. Oh, how the tables had turned.
There was a moment of silence.
Then-
"Are you busy?"
"No, no," Thea said quickly, "I'm just wrapping up the monthly paychecks."
"Ah," Leo said drily. "Listen, I'm flying home tomorrow."
Oh.
"Oh," Thea echoed his thoughts. "How long are you staying? Do you want me to book you for anyone?"
"Please. My regular clients. I have a week, and I'm not coming for business, so feel free to book as many as you want. Oh, and, is there any way you could convince Alan to meet us for dinner without telling him I'm coming?"
Thea laughed. "Since when are you into surprises, Leo?"
Leo sighed. "Is there?" he repeated sharply.
Thea turned to Aspen. "Is there, Aspen?" she repeated, and Aspen nodded. "Yeah, I mean- We could tell him we're just meeting for a chat over dinner."
"Who're you talking to?" Leo inquired, and Thea winked at Aspen before she picked up the phone again. "Alan started training a friend a couple of months ago and now we're sharing him." She offered the phone to Aspen. "Say hi to Master Leo, Pet."
Aspen gingerly accepted the phone. "Nice to ... meet you, Master Leo," he said softly, leaning into Thea's hand that had gone back to petting his head.
"Aspen, is it? Aren't you Alan's friend that does law?"
"Yes, that would be me, Sir."
"Interesting. I'm assuming you'll join the dinner appointment, then?"
"Of course, he is," Thea cut in, "he'll be my plus one." With those words, she leaned down and planted a kiss on Aspen's forehead, leaving behind a smudge of deep purple lipstick.
