JACE P.O.V.
"No. He's still my brother. Steven wouldn't abandon me."
The air around me swirled darkness. It was like being in a thunderstorm at night.A voice kept egging me on. It told me I was alone and that it was better to join it or stay alone forever. That can't be.
"It can and it is. Where's your brother now? Gone. Like everyone else will."
When I opened my eyes everything was back to normal. I was still in my room and the darkness had vanished. When realization hit me I started to cry silently. Steven would always come to comfort me when I had nightmares. Now that my nightmares where out in the real world I was alone.
I wiped away the tears and took out a couple of sheet and started to write. There was nothing in particular to draw. Just nonsense.
" Here's another morning
Where I can't decide to sleep or stay awake
And I'm tangled up in thoughts
Thoughts of how we fell apart.
I tried to make it work but all you did was make it worse
And all you've done is leave me hopeless"Music played in my ears as the pencil moved back and forth.
The first time that Steven came in on a nightmare he suggested I draw. It would help to distract me and to keep in mind that my dreams where like the drawing. I controlled what came out.
The minutes went by fast. Before I knew it the sun was peeking through my window. My mouth clammed shut as I was about to call to an empty house. Mom and dad had taken Steven to Greeley to meet with the clan council.
I stayed because their trip would only be a few days. Plus there was no point of going if I would be left at the hotel by myself.
I checked my phone and my eyes flew open. It was almost noon. How could I sleep so much and not notice? Oh that's right, I was alone.
"You didn't forget about me did you?"
I almost jumped out of my shoes. I forgot that Cason had stayed. It was strange since he always went back to his family for the holidays.
"Cas!"
I gasped.
"I thought you would be back home.""Yeah. Well since my parents are out of town I have only an empty house to go to. So I thought I'd keep you company."
"Aw."
"Hey I'm gonna take a shower but after do you want to maybe go out?"
Was Cas being serious? He only hung out with me when Steven was here."Sure."
I went downstairs to wait when the door bell rang. Maybe if I ignore it they'll go away. Think again there was a knock that came next.
When I opened the door my breath went out. There stood a quite handsome guy. He also had a remarkable resemblance to Cas. Maybe they're related.
"Hi. I'm looking for Cason?"
That voice was dreamy.
Lord what am I doing. Checking out the guy that knocks at my door."He's upstairs. Come in. You can wait for him inside. He shouldn't take long."
I led him to the couch. He took a breath before stepping inside."Thanks."
"Can I get you a drink while you wait?"
I offered. He gave me a smile that almost made me melt inside.
"Sure. Water's fine."I stepped into the kitchen for a glass of water. Back in the living room the guy was looking at a picture of Steven, Cas and me. That was on a Spring Break we had taken to Baja. Let me say Surfing is not my thing.
