Chapter 4: The shift

          The next day, my eyes were back to normal due to our extreme healing abilities. I dressed up went to school and came back. The whole week went by with the preparations for our eighteenth birthday and the trip.

Not too long later, the night of our birthday came. I was wearing a black suit with black jeans and a white under shirt while Michael was wearing a blue suit.

Everything was great. We both had a huge cake with our names and age on it each.

There were a lot of people present. I was  on my way to the backyard when a particular scent hit my nose.

'Mate' Alex barked in my head. I almost shouted. I followed the scent till I got to the entrance of Michaels room.

I was fuming with anger. I left there and went to my room. I slammed the door really mad.

My mum came to meet me feeling the pain I felt through the mind link. She tried to comfort me a bit couldn't so she asked me to come down to greet the visitors.

I left the room and greeted everyone. My dad gave a greeting speech and the party started.

Michael also tried to annoy me by introducing his girlfriend who was my mate to me.

After the introduction, he excused her and came towards me. "You are such a disgrace to the family. Such a weakling."

I was really angry but dad told me to calm down through the mind link. I suddenly felt weird. I felt pain allover my body and screamed.

My dad and mum were at my side immediately and after some time, they took me inside but before we got to my room, the unimaginable happened.
