Chapter 8 ~ Suit Up

Suit Up

"Well, we'd both have to wait for 30th of November to come soon then... It can't come sooner."

The muted sound of shuffling and scattering stirred Ethan out of his slumber.

He did not know if it was the heavy exhaustion that was weighing on him, or the fact that it was his day off in a long time which made him sleep a little longer, but the diagnostician did not open his eyes until he felt a soft kiss being pressed onto his forehead.

"Sorry, did I wake you?"

He heard the voice of his fiancé, a tired smile quirking his lips.

"Not at all, I was going to get up anyways." Ethan replied, his voice low as he looked up at Blue as she sat at the edge of the bed, all dressed for work in a violet blouse and white pencil skirt.

"Go back to sleep, Ethan." Blue chuckled, gently stroking the top of his cheekbones, noticing the dark circles under his eyes, from the extremely busy few days he has had.

His to-be published second book was under the process of being printed, his own approved human trials for IgA deficiency were starting to see results, and the Governor was set to pay Edenbrook a visit soon, and if they wanted to progress towards getting additional budget from the government, they had to impress her as well.

On top of that, their wedding preparations were still underway, and Ethan had stayed up late after coming home from work to look at wedding suits options that Angela had emailed to him as he was to go suit shopping later with his groomsmen, much to his chagrin.

"It has been a hectic week for you. You need rest to deal with our chaotic friends later." Blue said with a teasing laugh. "Not to mention Alan and Naveen will both be there too."

"Don't remind me." Ethan groaned, threading his fingers through Blue's. "Can't you come with me?"

"As per tradition, no, and I have to head to work now." Blue chuckled softly. "But you can send me a picture of the suit you chose."

"You didn't show me your wedding dress either... so as per tradition, no." Ethan countered playfully, chuckling as Blue rolled her eyes out of banter.

"Well, we'd both have to wait for 30th of November to come soon then." she smiled as Ethan pulled her down closer to him.

"It can't come sooner." he said softly, his voice laced with affection and fondness as he held her face gently, pulling her down into a soft kiss. "Have a good day, sweetheart." he told her when they pulled apart.

"You too." Blue smiled, kissing him once more. "And have fun with your suit shopping." she winked as Ethan shook his head fondly at her. "See you later at night."

"See you."

He watched with a small smile on his face as Jenner trotted after Blue to the door to see her off before rushing back in and jump into the bed next to Ethan. Ethan let out a laugh, ruffling the pup's fur as he settled back into bed. It was still early, and he only had to meet the guys later in the afternoon, so he supposed he should pay heed to Blue and get a little more rest.

Ethan parked his car in the parking lot of Antoine Rubini, an Italian suit boutique, famed for their high quality suits and collars.

Once again, it was a recommendation from Angela, and Ethan himself already owned a few suits from Antoine and appreciated the quality and service.
